Good lord.....I have had this nagging feeling of pessimism during the entire off season. I was hoping it was just lingering from how horrible we were last season. After the Skins game and, now, this news....I am not feeling any more optimistic

I for one think they are playing mind games hoping a talented TE gets waived ( by a team hoping to resign to PS ). They are being ridiculously over optimistic about Heath's return and fans are buying into it.

Heath tore his ACL,MCL & PCL!!!! He did it at the end of last season. He still has a noticeable limp in his walk and has yet to begin running & cutting much less any kind of practicing. It takes a year to recover from a ACL only. I player may return a little before a year from an ACL injury depending on the severity of it but even then he RARELY is the same. It just takes time.

To seriously think Heath can/will return to active duty, on the field, with any kind of effectiveness, before week ten is just crazy. Miracles happens and barring such I'd have to think Heath is the perfect candidate for IR Destined to return. Unless of course Bell indeed does have a LisFranc though he'd still probably be better off on the PUP.

We knew this already, it's not news.

Yes. Adrian had a ACL & MCL. His recovery is remarkable and speaks volumes to his genetics, severity of damage, work ethic in rehab and the skill of his surgeon.

Heath, while being injuryed about the same time of year ( late dec. ) his injury is considerable worse. The fact he also tore his PCL speaks to the extent of the damage to his ACL.

Any torn ligament can take 6 months to a year to heal. The greater the tear( which includes up to detachments ) is a strong determination factor in recovery. Tearing ( we don't know the extent of damage of the three ligaments) ALL three of these ligaments tells us he had MAJOR knee damage.

I rather have him back week 11 heathy and strong than week 6 not completely healed risking further injury.

    Damn...
I was actually hoping for this to be the opposite...
That the damage to his knee was less severe, than I thought...
Sounds like it`s even more severe...
And as Mac pointed out, Heath IS bout 30 yrs old... the body just doesn`t heal as well/as fast at that point.
No guarantees he can EVER play at the same level as he was before...
    DAMN.
Sucks that some of the worst things in life seem to happen to the best people, but that`s just the way it goes...
Here`s hopin he can get back to what he was, no matter how long it takes!:herewego:
And I agree... Don`t rush him back, if his knee can`t handle it.
I`m sure he will be pushin to get on the field, and I genuinely want him there, but not at the expense of his overall health...
The man has proved to be a true Steeler, in every sense of the word, and I wouldn`t want to see him hobbled for life, because of his desire to get back on the field.
I truly hope he can come back from this good as new, and if that means he misses this year, or most of it, or never plays again, so be it...
    GO HEEEEAAATTHHH!!!!
