The rookie still had decent production , but the top 2 had 1 great year and another year over 3 k yards and another year over 35 TD'S in front of the Rookie.. IMO WR'S are more pro ready and a 500 yard 5 TD year would be huge if our top 2 could put up #'s like the other top 2 did or a 3 k 35 TD plus and then add in the Rookie ..Either of would be records for the Steeler Offence..

How far do you think we'd have to move up?

Not trying to be a dick or anything...just not a draft expert and interested in whether or not we think a move like that would be possible?

Probably pick 8 or so .. It would cost a good bit , but man I have a feeling about Tate ..Plus him and Will are huge friends and already have a bond .I can see them as the Teams future .. I see Tate as a Franchise WR ..

I actually think he is smart and a Team player as well ,talent at that spot with a good attitude is getting harder and harder to find..

Exactly where are you finding someone dumb enough to make that trade

And a move like that would at a minimum require our first second and all three thirds

    I don5 think so

That is to much I keep praying he will fall to 14 or so ..I not to good with the chart , but how much would that cost ? If we knew I was right and he did play 10- 1K plus yards a year seasons with the Team that would actually be a bargain.

How far would our 3 3rd. rounders take us ?

I think this is a trade that someone "on the hot seat" tends to make. Especially if someone they like falls to the 3rd.

It's why it's stupid IMO for owners to tell HCs and GMs that their job is on the line. Because then they only prioritize the present. F the future.

And...a team who's competitive window is now that expects to be picking at the end of the 2nd next year. For example, maybe a team like the Bills seems some WR they really like fall to the 3rd.

Or maybe just a team like the Rams who doesn't value draft picks.

We will draft a Tackle if any of the 1st rd ones get to us. Cook.starts this year and the Rookie yakes over next year. Jones will be a Free Agent.

We’re not going to get an answer before the draft about Rodgers.

The team probably already knows but there is zero benefit for them to divulge it before the draft. Leave teams guessing.

    Similar to last year

Team knew he was signing and when

Heck even I knew he was signing and when and nailed the day

No reason to create additional drama

My guess is that he won't be at minicamp either.

The team has no leverage. And it seems clear that AR doesn't like anything related to preseason.

Not being under contract means that he can skip any mandatory events without any penalty.

I highly expect if he plays it will be exactly like last year

New coach and new playbook he will want to be there for the start of camp

Wait until then and avoid any drama skip OTA which he doesn’t need

Draft may be a factor but if he plays he will be on time probably signing about June 4-6

He is going to want to work with Howard they seem to be buddies

And the whiners will whine until he signs and then the whiners will whine when he does sign

Since it's a coach he's played under with a presumably similar playbook, he might even see less of a reason to come in "early".

They are still fine tuning the playbooks which is why McCarty didn’t waste a lot of time going to college pro days

Once complete a copy will be in Rodgers hands signed or not

No, that isn't about ethics. It is about ego. He pays an agent to take care of him, not use him.

The bet example is when the Raiders hired the top draft guru at the time, Mayock, to be their GM. First thing that he did was draft a guy at #4 - Clelin Ferrell, who no draft analyst had higher than the late teens. I'm sure if he was still on TV instead of in a war room, everyone would have followed his lead and been talking about Ferrell as top 10 and wondered why nobody drafted him until 20.

Not a bad draft overall, he did land Jacobs at #24, Crosby at #106, Moreau at #127, and Renfrow at #149, but it gets worse from there. Other than Josh Jacobs, his next most noteworthy first rounder was Henry Ruggs - and that was with 6 first rounders in three years.

I won't even knock him for the AB trade since that wasn't in his area of draft expertise.

As long as they already know, there is nothing wrong with that. If he really is pushing for more money, they might be screwed. The only levrage they had left just went away when Cousins signed.

They haven’t made Rodgers an offer so the idea he wants more money is illogical

If they wanted to sign someone else they would have so leverage isn’t a factor

    Much ado about nothing

So which is it? They already have everything worked out, and he is just waiting long enough to miss OTAs? Or they haven't even talked about money yet?

    Both can't be true.

Both things you wrote cannot be true. If they have an agreement in place that he won't sign until later, then they have the money worked out. If they haven't talked about money yet, then there is no agreement in place.

I think your guess is going to turn out to be right, that they already have things worked out with him, but it is at least possible that things are being held up because he wants more money than the Steelers are willing to give him. Now that there are no viable veteran starter options left, he certainly has the leverage to push for more.

I recall us trading a future 3rd to draft - I think Shamarko Thomas in the 4th round about a decade ago. I know for sure we traded a future 4th to draft Loudermilk in the 5th. So if someone hires Colbert, I guess there’s a chance.
