I'm not saying he has no value. Just that I don't think he warrants a top 50 prospect in return.

A no brainer really - Konner Griffin heading to Indy, for now. He was batting at the Hank Davis level (25 pts lower than the Mendoza). Needs some fine-tuning. He'll be back, hopefully sooner than later.

Glad KG going to AAA. I was thinking about hitters I really liked over the years. Gary Sheffield, Eddie Murray, Pedro Guerrero, Chipper , Thats what KG needs to be, I don't want to see 150 strikeouts by a hitter. I want a real bat , 290/ 42 2B /28 hr 115 Rbi with under 90K. Bring those types back please baseball gods everyone trying to hit 50 hr sucks

Even a few Freddie Sanchez types would be nice.

Bucs are second game of the 2026 MLB season. They will be on MLB Channel at NYM.

I like starting out with 6 on the road. Not sure how the rotation will work out to see who will start our home opener. I think if Skenes starts Thursday he'll be starting one of the Reds games since we have an off day during the 6 game road trip.

Oh well, let the magic begin. BEAT EM BUCS!!!!!

    Skenes
    Keller
    Mlodzinski
    Ashcraft
    Chandler

Right handers. Not an awe inspiring staff. We shall see.

I'm hoping the starting batting lineup has been sandbagging these last few weeks because for the most part they look just like last year's sh*t show but with different names and numbers on their backs.

I miss the days of .300 hitters
Do you think pitch clock is hurting the batters avg?
    250 seems the norm today
    That sucks

    Come on my friend
    Relax
I think we might be in for a treat this year
You can have team batting avg of .500
    And win every preseason game
    Don’t mean jack squatch
Me personally am looking forward to this awesome pitching staff and hopefully a better hitting lineup

Possibly. Maybe the use of aluminum bats in their early development stages? Better fielders with wider ranges and stronger arms? At least the extreme infield shifting has diminished somewhat.

    Opening day roster:

    C: Davis, Bart

Inf: Gonzales, Horwitz, Lowe, Triolo, Yorke

OF: Reynolds, Cruz, O'Hearn, Mangum, Cook

    DH: Ozuna

Rotation: Skenes, Keller, Chandler, Ashcraft, Mlodzinski

Bullpen: Santana, Soto, Mattson, Lawrence, Montgomery, Ramirez, Barco, Urquidy

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Your 2026 battling Bucs. I'm changing my prediction to 73-74 wins at best. This team ain't breaking .500.

    I just hope the Dodgers don't 3-peat.

And to think, Mario Mendoza could have competed for offensive MVP last year with the dismal batting averages they had all around.

Was just going to comment on Skenes throwing too many pitches early. Didn't even make it out of 1st inning.

I was golfing and they have the game on in the clubhouse. I was making the turn and they just had to yell out that my boy Skenes was getting his ass kicked. Ruined rest of my round. From what I was told he was not on his game and the Pirates do what the Pirates do and screwed up defensively. Heard Cruz screwed up a couple fly balls:(

    It ain't over yet.

Fun times ahead. I'm sure Bobby Nutbag will have some give away most of the 81 home games so get out your wallets and support the trainwreck he assembles every season. F U Bob!!

Technically he didn't make it out of 1st inning. Wonder how long it will take to get his 67.5 ERA under 2.00 like last year? Bucs gave up 9 walks, collected none. Oh boy. Well at least 2 of the new guys, Lowe and O'Hearn came through with 3 HRs and 4 hits.

The last few times in spring training and even his last start in WBC
    Skenes struggled
Hitters are going to make him throw strikes
Almost 40 pitches in first inning that he didn’t even finish.
Was a concern last year with the amount of pitches he throws.
    Hopefully this gets better

I agree Skenes was off. I watched the game for a bit, and I agree that hitters are going to make him throw strikes. The fact is, if there is even an average CF'er out there, that s---show doesn't happen. If those 2 plays are made, they give up 2 runs instead of 5, and creates a completely different situation resulting in fewer pitches and Skenes possibly settles in and gets his command back. Maybe only me, but it seemed that Skenes got pretty deflated by what happened in CF. I didn't see any hard hit balls while he was in there, but the team has to be wondering, why does this kind of play get tolerated?
I don't care what kind of potential Cruz has, he needs to be gone. What he costs you defensively, for the small offensive output he provides, isn't worth these scenarios occurring. You guys all see more games than I do, because the Pirates are not on national TV very often. Cruz wasn't wearing sunglasses out there? WTF is that? The only thing crazier than not wearing them is seeing guys with them and wearing them on the cap backwards. His butt needs to be on the bench until he gets his head in the game and acts like a professional ballplayer. if he's in the lineup tomorrow, that sends a really bad message to the rest of the team.

Watching a simple fly ball go anywhere near Cruz I cringe. Zero confidence in his abilities.

I'm thinking of calling Arnold S. son and telling him his Dad didn't really take out the Predator and have the son dispose of this Predator;)
