    This.

Ryan Williams, Germaine Bernard and Jalen Hale are the furthest thing to a "junk" corps and the closest thing to an "NFL Caliber" receiving corps. My biggest issue with Ty Simpson, as I said, is that he has yet to perform the basic functions inside the pocket. Part of the reason why he struggles so much in zone isn't a lack of identifying coverage but the propensity of not making quick decisions as those opportunities become available consistently enough. Far too often he holds onto the ball too long wanting to make the play as opposed to stringing together consistent plays.

Now, is he able to break this habit?! Yes. Will it take some serious coaching to do so?! Also yes. Is he an option I would take?! No.

LOL Did you see this? Dan Orlovsky called out, because of his love for Ty Simpson, and more importantly he has the same Sports Agent as Ty Simpson.

The man was playing hurt in his last 5 games, had an unusually high number of dropped passes, and had a so-so running game. vs the toughest schedule in college football!

Factor that in the above you do not or can not.

But in his first ten games when he was healthy he flat out rocked.

I'd like to see those stats vs the field.

Can you please produce the link where this information came from?

If you need a great deal of help to succeed against college competition....what are you going to do in the pros when every single players is as good as the best players you faced in college?

Like I said....everyone over complicates these things. Does the kid look like he's simply better than most of the players around him? I say "No"; but am more than willing to be shown that he was/is.

    Alabama pro day is today.

For Simpson, I predict he turns 40 in 4.67-4.74 and the shuttle in under 4.40 seconds. This is a guess by my eye. He can hurt a defense by running for first down, particularly in man coverage and is quick / fast enough to buy a second chase by avoiding the intal pass rush in the pocket say 50% of the time.

He will also show a good arm on the 7+ yard outs and deep posts.

    His footwork will be impressive.

Don't expect the Steelers to have much presence at Alabama pro day, Khan is reportedly going to Ohio State instead let's see if McCarthy shows up too.

Good point. A back injury on a QB isn't something to take lightly. Another reason to knock Simpson down a few notches.

Also make sure to give him a full physical. A first round draft pick isn't like a trade with the Ravens. It can't be undone after it's made. :smiley1:

I'll admit he did have the best combine of any of the QB's who threw there. He got an A grade for his combine showing while Beck and Nussmeier each got a B+. Allar had a B rating, he had the best arm but not quite the accuracy of the other 3.

Holy Crap, did anyone see the Pat McAfee show? At the beginning they seem to be Buddy-Buddy on Ty Simpson. And, then about halfway through the segment Pat turns on Dan and is like Ty Simpson shouldn't even be allowed to hold Fernando Mendoza's jock strap. I don't know if Pat was just setting him up at the beginning, but Wow Pat just gets nasty with Dan's opinion that Ty Simpson should go Overall #1 in this year's draft.

I got to admit this gets pretty funny when Pat just keeps piling on the Fernando Mendoza game stats as Dan is trying to downplay every post season win by Indiana.

Remember the part about Orlovsky and Simpson having the same agent

If you and I question that you know Dan is all over it

I dont believe Dan is saying that Simpson is number one pick worthy, just that he is the best QB in the class.

I think taking Mendoza number 1 is crazy but I understand Raiders dilemma. They should trade out and reap a windfall in draft compensation and grab a QB next year and maybe one of the later round guys this draft.

Mendoza is interesting for as good as he looked, he wasn't being talked about at all going into the season, and didn't have much buzz until about half way though. Makes you wonder if he's a product of the system, and destined to fail going to the kind of team that "earns" the first overall pick. The Raiders have some nice building blocks on O in Bowers and Jeanty, but we'll have to see if he goes the way of Jamarcus Russell or Joe Burrow - two guys who only blossomed in their final years.
