I will always remember some crazy take by Skip Bayless during that draft!

Fans were saying after the Ravens bad start they were going to go on a run and win the division last year.

It don't matter...They were a 8-9 team(8-7 in the game who was not the steelers) in 2025 vs 12-5 in 2024(11-4 in the game who was not the steelers)

Skip Bayless and Mel Kiper Jr. would still vehemently disagree with you.

That's the crazy thing about evaluating NFL draft prospects, an average guy on the street can be better at it than a so-called "pro".

Not an average guy by any means but when it comes to both Offensive and Defensive Lineman, Brandon Thorn of Trench Warfare is a man whom I can count on. I still evaluate on my own but if I ever am unsure about a prospect, he is the first person I turn to. Dude is a beast when it comes to scouting the bigs up front.

Very few people I trust and respect when it comes to scouting. Brandon is one of them and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn more about both Offensive and Defensive Line play in the NFL.

They almost did. If it wasn't for a bad no TD call on Likely, they probably would've.

i wonder if some of these pro analysts are told to push certain players by the management. To promote certain colleges or satisfy quotas, and so we don't really get an honest personal assessment.

That sounds good and all. But how do you fix it when there's not a clear fix in the 2026 draft?

They drafted a guy a season ago who they thought could be the answer to the QB position and he hasn't played a snap in the NFL and was injured last off season. Should they just discard that attempt?

What other QB is available that could be a fix to the QB situation?

Steelers should pass on a QB in this upcoming draft. Draft CB, DL, WR and OL. Get a cheap free agent QB to roll with Rudolph and Howard.

While I don't disagree. If I were forced to bet $1,000, I'd bet that the Steelers will start Rogers and eventually insert Howard. And I'm not fully against that either. I don't think Howard, Rudolph or any cheap free agent QB is going to outperform Rodgers to kick the season off. And if the Steelers are still in a win now mindset, that's what they'll do unless Rogers throws a wrench in that plan.

You got that right, there's definitely no quick and easy fix. Franchise QBs are hard to come by, and the Steelers constantly picking at #21 doesn't help matters, the best QB prospects are always gone by then. Crazy as it sounds, the Steelers having a bad 2026 could be the best thing possible for them in the long term. Unlikely that will happen though if Rodgers returns and stays healthy. I mean, you could try to make a blockbuster trade for someone like Justin Herbert or Trevor Lawrence, but that would be extremely unlikely. Even if you could make a trade like that, it doesn't mean you'll ever win anything with them. Realistically, you just have to hope that the Steelers can eventually draft a kid that can help make them serious contenders again.

    That’s the problem. I agree.

there is no quick easy way to get a franchise QB. This may take 10 years.

Honestly....IF MM is half the QB coach everyone claims he is....then these "lesser" prospect that actually have high end physical abilities make sense.

Like you can't make Ty Simpson taller or have a bigger frame. But maybe you can make Allar or the fast kid from Arkansas or this RB playing QB from NDSU into a viable QB.

Every year there is some QB who enters the draft cycle with absolutely freakish athletic ability and gets dinged for not being "polished" enough. Then some "polished" dude with like no physical traits gets drafted (KP, McCarthy, insert your example here) and can't hack it.

Save your first round pick. Get a later round guy that can throw the ball to the moon and is smart enough to understand and take coaching.

LOL.... We have 12 picks in this years draft and you don't think we should use one of those 12 picks to select QB.

I have no problem with the Steelers taking a QB on Day 3 again. Last I heard Skylar Thompson has not resigned, and Will Howard has yet to take a single snap in an NFL game of any kind. Right now the Steelers have 2 QBs under contract, and they need 4 to start training camp.

That's why I want them to draft Allar he has some traits for MM to work with, if MM can't develop Howard or Allar then is he really a QB guru.

    Him or Payton or Green.

someone who’s best attribute is actual physical capability rather than being a coaches kid.

The other one to watch out for might be Sawyer Robertson from Baylor. He has a lot of good NFL traits with a strong arm, quick release, and he is surprisingly athletic.

He can be wildly inconsistent with accuracy, and his footwork and mechanics need to be tweaked and synced. He puts the ball at risk a little too often trying to fit it into tight windows, but he has the stones and aggression to make those throws. He seems to play his best in the biggest games and in the biggest situations. He has enough tools that I think he has a chance to be a consideration.

Sounds like way more fun than rooting for Simpson or Nuesmeisyer or whatever his name is.

They may end up being good quarterbacks, but they do it more with processing and less with physical talent.

Simpson looked great early in the year, but later in the season without a dominant running game and against some better defenses he didn't play as well. He has a chance to be pretty good, but he had a ton of talent and weapons around him at Alabama, and he still really struggled at times. The new head coach doesn't seem to have everything buttoned up the way Nick Saban did, but who does?

Nussmeier is the son of a coach. He is supposed to be an elite processor with an advanced knowledge of the game. The word is he was playing with an oblique injury that severely affected his play this season, but it has to make you hesitate when you see a player that doesn't possess any elite traits, that is also supposedly advanced in the mental aspects of the game, and is a coach's son playing at a major school not playing well. It has to make anyone hesitate to think they are going to be great at the next level.

Look, if the team really likes one of these guys they are probably going to draft them. Like you, I'm hoping the team is leaning towards drafting one of the more physically gifted quarterbacks from this year's class and letting them develop.
