yeah the list of NFL qb’s with only one year starting in college is not that impressive. Cam Newton being the only exception.

    …. Wouldn’t be hard to replace …..
    I’m just skeptical of Howard.

Kenny Pickett has a Super Bowl ring. He stinks too.

Ohio State winning a National Championship doesn’t make Will Howard an NFL quarterback.

I’d rather do that then what the other person suggested which was trading him on draft day for picks. Imagine him becoming someone else’s franchise QB in that scenario. :frustrated:

I don't watch college, but did watch these two videos about Simpson from Chase Daniel.

    Combine throwing workout breakdown

    College game breakdown

He seems to like him from these videos. But I haven't watched other videos from Daniel. So I don't know if he's always positive on guys.

    Ty Simpson.
He a 1-year starter and he did stick with Alabama, behind Young and Milroe.
6'2" and around 210lbs is a good size for a QB

What I think - Simpson is a beauty to watch, his throws are nice and he can make any NFL throw, especially over the middle.
Who needs to draft him? A team that can bring him along. He probably should really stay in school another year or ride the pine for year - rather that be standing beside the OC, tied to his hip. Simpson is not a 1st year starter.

In Pittsburgh? McCarthy can do Simpson justice. In this case, I would be happy to sign Rogers a year, and it is to mostly mentor Simpson. So, Pittsburgh does have a perfect storm for Simpson, a great QB coach and Rogers as the perfect mentor. In a perfect world I could see Simpson taking the reins before season end depending on the circumstances.

My preference - I'd rather take one of the QB early 3rd round and use the other 4 top 100 picks to find impact player, regardless of position though WR is what we need. We need an inject of BPA rather than need which is exactly what I expect Omar to do..

You kill me haha. Reminds me a joke

Why did O. J. Simpson never like tight gloves?

Because apparently… they just don’t fit his lifestyle

If the Jets don't take him, the Cardinals probably will. So don't worry.

Simpson could very well go in the first round, a few teams like him.
Should he? Tough to say. On film, he's got all the attributes.
He won't drop to round late 3.

My issue is the 1-year starter deal..
Prior to this year, Pittsburgh is one of the worst places he could land.
As of this year, it's a pretty good place to land for that type of QB.
I do view him as Mason part II.

Allar or Nussmier will be there in the 3rd, they are better value.

I can't subscribe to the Howard gripes.
Tomlin might go to the Hall of Fame, but it won't be for developing QB's.
    So let's get to it....

Straight out of Pittsburgh, by their own voices, 'they' love Will Howard. (They = Omar, Weidl, Rooney - the ones left from last year)
They think he has the smarts, the will, quick learner, and skills to be a good QB.
He was slated to start the last game but we needed a win.

The thing I cannot get by is arm strength.
I've seen him make some strong throws in open stadiums, and it doesn't appear to be a weakness.
But as the season rolls on, will it be?
Working side by side comparisons working with Rogers... Rogers passes have that whiz on them, especially those 20 outs.
Howard can put something on them too...
The deep ball, there's no mistaking Rogers long ball.... you almost want to celebrate TD before it even reaches peak.
    Howard doesn't throw that beauty..
So, this summer, McCarthy will figure out Will Howard.

I agree for old National Championship games, but in today's college playoffs, it's a different thing. At worse He shows that throughout the playoffs, and Championship game that it wasn't too big for him, and he could keep his wits about him, and the game. Now I'm not saying he will be good, but I'm saying there is good in that aspect.

Howard was a sixth round pick what do you think they would get in return?

I'm not interested in Simpson or Nussmeier both are similar in size and neither has any elite traits.

Not much, maybe a 6th or 7th round pick. Makes no sense in trading Howard at this point, let's first see if the kid can play or not before giving up on him.

I told a guy the same thing and his reply was similar to yours. Took the wind right out of my sails lol. I am a positive guy when it comes to our QBs. I thought KFP was going to be great for the Steelers. Now I am reluctant to make any predictions lol

We won't get Arch Manning unless we go 3-14 or trade up to get a top 5 pick. If Arch has a good year, he could very well be the #1 pick.

My mind went there too. I was in Hawaii at the time. As dumb luck would have it there was an avid Bills fan with us. He was over the top obnoxious that his Billy goats were kicking the best team in NFL's ass. It was a long day.

After that, every time the Bills lost the SB I gave a little chuckle thinking of him moaning in his beer.
