If Allar is there in the 3rd round, get him. Agreed if he sits the potential is there. I don't see anything worth spending a higher round pick on QB with these holes.

I think they have to trade for a veteran with starting experience

Yes he is but can't do half of what this kid could do downfield. Wash and Muth are more geared towards being chain movers. Not that this is a bad thing but this kid can take the top off. Plus his route running and get off of the line is far different and better. He can just do things the other two can't. Could really stress a defense and could even open things up for our other receivers. Who gets the coverage? He would just help overload a defense. That is my opinion anyway. Not that it counts for much.:smiley1::cool:

I totally hear , and believe you, but I don't think it's enough to make a top priority in the draft. Just My opinion, although if it happens, I won't hate it. LoL

Every couple of years some kid comes out that is some weird super-sized WR masquerading as a TE. He posts just video game combine numbers for his size. Everyone gets in a really big lather. Then the kid gets drafted pretty daggone high and fails to live up to those expectations.

To be a TE in the NFL....you have to be able to do TE things; not just super-sized WR things.

Jonnu Smith. Kyle Pitts. Dorrin Dickerson. Jelani Woods. Noah Fant.

The list can go on and on.

Dude is just a really large WR. He should be considered as such.

Right. Muth is a below average blocker. And he has, despite his big contract, a below average impact on the field.

Unless big and fast is a pretty darn good in line run blocker (from what Google tells me, he is not), dude will just be a big slot WR. And that can be a really nice thing to have and be a devasting weapon in the right offense.

Or he could join a parade of big and fast dudes that never found the right position or scheme fit to be truly impactful.

that's pretty much the same for any draft pick at any position. they are a gamble until you see them do things on the field.

I put no faith in “TEs” that post big testing numbers but don’t do TE things in games. There’s like a couple every year and they all end up being vastly overrated.

Like what is Kyle Pitts actual impact on the field?

If you evaluate Sid as a WR how does he stack up?

We’ve a new Oline coach with a solid rep, thank all that’s holy, and like 7 (me thinks) draft picks day two alone. So, we’re gonna see linemEn drafted. All yeah, we’re.

With the FA signings thus far, I see the Steelers setting themselves up for BPA across the draft. The only glaring hole is the most important position on the team but that won't get fixed until next year. Knowing Weidl is running the board I expect the lines will be in focus early. Get these picks right and it sets the team up for a dominant run in two years.

With Benton and ILB's unable to stop the run, I wouldn't be surprised if a big, bodied NT selected
at 21. We have got to stop the bleeding some time. Our run defense sucks.

Steelers fans get ready for a non-sexy pick at #21 with them filling most holes in free agency, I think they go OL/DL or possibly WR.

We still need at least 1 or 2 WR's...I think they should do the following:
    1) Move up in round 1 to get the WR they want (Lemon, Tyson, etc.).
    2) Take the best LB available (I like Rodriguez...Styles will be gone in top 10 and we cannot get him).
    3) Drew Allar

    I may have been mistaken

    No, '22 was a disaster.

We need to smash t out the park this year, no excuses tons of draft capital, if only we started a rebuild before last season we'd be in the top 10 and laughing now.

Now look where we are, held to ransom by a 42 year old, and not only that held to ransom by the same 42 year old. Embarassing. It's a good job the Rats are soiling themselves in public to a much greater degree.

I think both of you have made very good points, and I'm on the fence about it, but my main opinion is that I'm not sure a TE, no matter who he is is a top priority here.

How are they held for ransom?

If they actually are then the entire staff needs to GET THE FVCK OUT

but I just don't see the RANSOM

The Steelers are holding Rodgers for ransom. They haven't given him a contract offer yet!!
