Even if Dean takes a downturn....he is a handful of months younger than Pierre AND both Dean's ceiling and floor are higher than Pierre's.

So other than arguing about cap space, there's almost no downside here. Assuming we artificially limit the choice to Pierre/Dean.

Losing Kenny G sucks. I’m not sure if Johnson can cut it he’s too slow.

Look for them to sign a veteran RB.

Here is another article @Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace and others if interested! :drinks:

Again, I like the signing as I didn't think it would be possible. I still believe though that a Corner is still within Round One discussion.

Tons of good backs in the FA pool. We won't miss out entirely. We will likely draft another one. We won't be acting like Johnson is a lock for the 53, because he certainly didn't play like he belonged on it last season.

I like it, but I still say we draft one.

Man, adding a legit No. 2 receiver and a very good to elite corner were my top-2 needs (aside from QB). What a damn good start to offseason.

They say that reaction time start slowing down about 29. You personally aren't slower, but the signal to the brain, or however it works (I'm not a neurosurgeon) is slowed, which make it look like You are slowing.
I noticed it at about 28.
All people are different, but it's usually around that time for men. I'm sure you noticed openings in your opponents in martial arts that were open , and later when you seen them open at a old age, they were somehow closed before you could react, and yet they were the same openings.

Well.. gotta remember that, besides having overall athletic speed, Corners need to have exceptional processing speed as well. For me, given how physically demanding that position is, generally speaking, Corners do tend to slow down a bit after age 27. There are exceptions to this rule but there can be only so many of these.

1st day has turned in very well for Omar.
Trade for and signed Michale Pittman WR
Grabbed a CB in Jamel Dean
Downside: Jamel is 29 and soon to be 30. Yes, I know CB's can have a longer lifespan....
Dean is not a bad player, but the inevitable is just that - when does his skills drop?
Upside: The deal, 3-year, $36.75 mil is not awful and that combined with the assumption his skills remain sharp, he adds to the possibilities.

Never! DHB will come out of retirement and fulfill his purpose as a shut down corner. He's not the corner back we want but he is the CB we need.

I wouldn't be shocked if we traded for kamara. He fits our style.

Putting Dean aside because he is 29, I am not buying the premise that players in their prime (25-27) are falling off their game. Technically from what you are saying it may be true but I dont believe you would see it in their game at that age.

Yes, I think Steelers addressed 2 big roster holes, and got very good proven players at significant, but not outrageous, money on the contracts.

I see the Colts giving Alec Pierce close to $30M a year, and it puzzles me. I just don't see him being that level of player.......but I am not Indy's GM obviously.

Steelers are setting themselves up to take best player available on their board when they pick. I think they may go oline or dline in first again. Taking guys for the trenches in first round is never a bad idea.

Additionally: Losing Pierre is bad. There is an old saying: "It takes 100 attaboys to wipe away 1 awsh!t"

I would bet money he can still almost run the 40 in the same time he did back in the day, but can he react the same. He did well last year so here is hoping so. I like the signing , but we shall see. The CB is not like the Wr. The Wrs knows where they are going, but the CB must react, and quickly.
