Nope. You did not get that right. Where did I say Pickett should be judged positively based on one particular pass? Where did you get that nonsense?

My point was that you mischaracterized what he did at Pitt because you were focused on what you saw in a few highlights.

They didn't have to throw any money at him for two more years, at least no more than Fields cost them.

The Eagles brought him in to back up Hurts. Was getting hurt failing? That was the only decent system he has played in.

He can't stay healthy. That was an issue in Pittsburgh. It was the issue in Philadelphia and Cleveland.

No he just sucks. Something you cant come to admit and push silly injuries as a reason. Hammys and concussions are things every football player deals with. If teams are giving up on him over those things it means hes not good enough to invest in.

The only injury he has sustained that sidelined him for any time was when he was here and he could have returned sooner but they saw how much better the offense performed under Mason. When you lose your job to Mason, you really suck.

He played through the rib injury in Phlliy so that reason is bogus, too.

I mean you claim that he made all this hay over the middle at Pitt. Why didn't he do it the first 3 years? Why only his final season with Addison?

You are painting a picture of KP in college that I can find no one else painting. Honestly, I do not have the desire or energy to relitigate KP's career, potential ,etc.

The majority of NFL observers, coaches, and commentators have demonstrated that they do not KP is very good at playing QB at the NFL level. You seem to disagree and fall into the he got a bum rap from a bad offense camp. That's on you to demonstrate.

I don’t get your choice of this hill to die on. My favorite bad point is the one that you continue to repeat about the Steelers telling him something different than what they told the media, like you were in the room when he met with the team.

"Throwing good money after bad" is how gamblers describe the sunk cost fallacy.

It made sense to bet on Kenny early (1st round pick in 2022). He was the consensus best QB in a bad draft. Wouldn't have been good to take top 3, top 5, or top 10. But at 20, it's worth betting he becomes something IMO.

But it became clear that he wasn't an NFL starter because he was (1) bad at playing QB in the NFL (e.g., generationally low TD%), and (2) unable to stay on the field because he gets hurt every few games.

If we didn't recruit Wilson, I think the plan was to have Kenny compete with Mason. Based on the previous year, I think Mason would have beat him out (again).

That's not saying that Mason is an average to above average QB (I think he's a good backup, but not a starter). It's showing us how bad Kenny is.

There is strong evidence for this now as he's been no better than the QB3 on 4 teams in the NFL (more than 10% of the QB3s in the league!). Seems pretty clear that we made the right decision here. Won't be surprised if Kenny's drummed out of the league before Mason is. Because Mason has demonstrated that he can be a competent backup in the NFL. Kenny has shown that he can get hurt and give you approximately QB3 level play when he's healthy.

So in Kenny's case, I agree with you that money isn't the main resource we would have thrown away if we continued to force him on the field. The resource we'd be wasting was time.

Instead, we (smartly) recognized that he wasn't an NFL starter (maybe not an NFL player soon IMO). This was clear when he was dramatically outplayed by Mason, who's a career backup / journeyman.

Getting out played by the QB3 in PHI was failing for a QB2.

The system doesn't matter for Kenny. Because he isn't good.

This is a decision that has been made by 4 different teams now. And he's been outplayed or played to a draw by the QB3 (or QB3+QB4 re: Browns) on all 4 of those teams.

He was pulled from his one start in Philly with the injury.

The injury derailed his shot in Cleveland.

You want that "I told you so" so badly that you can't admit that poor work by Tomlin and the rest of the Steelers coaches and injuries derailed Pickett. The Steelers knew giving up on a first-round quarterback so quickly, not even a year after they seemed fully committed to him as their long-term guy, so they did what they could to put the blame on Pickett to turn it away from themselves. Some folks here consumed the information they were fed from those links and bought into it, probably due to the frustrations of watching the offense struggle. If you want to swallow that and run with the oversimplification, go for it, but I'm looking at things more critically.

The Steelers could have made themselves better and saved us all a lot of trouble if they had the sense to draft Linderbaum instead, which is what I argued for at the time.

And the best ability is availability which the Steelers couldn't count on from Pickett.

Wonder if the go-to move of spinning into a blitzing DE had anything to do with getting hurt?

Nah. Tomlin probably hit KP with a shovel in his sleep and had a voodoo doll made up. I bet that is why he won't give a press conference either.

He finished the game and then played the following week against Dallas. What would that have to do with being cut after the season anyway? Oh yeah, Nothing.

He was cut because he sucks and Eagles didn’t even want him as a backup. You’re so consumed with being right all the time you cant admit that simple fact and keep repeating the silly mantra that the Steelers fooled its fan base.

    Cue @forgotten1@forgotten1

Have you noticed he sidesteps facts that are easy to find and calls them opinions but provides no verifiable facts of his own no matter how many times you ask

If Kenny was so good, then why did the Eagles trade him away? You always need a good backup. Surely he had good coaching and a good system in Philly to bring out his best.

This is what I said before yeah the Steelers didn't put Pickett in a good situation, but how come none of the other teams he went to got anything out of him.
