No contract offer sounds like he isnt their first option and will see what they can grab in free agency.

He sounds more like a fall back option. Like you said, the only team that may come knocking for his services are the Vikings but probably not even them.

Thanks for the info and I agree with knowing how to use 13 personnel.. 2 schools of thought on how to protect a QB .. One is tight or max protect per say or Spread and less guys in the box and using the RB as a pass Catcher not a blitz pick up guy..IMO MM the new HC likes the Spread way which fits a smart QB if the QB and the WR/RB can get on the same page the hot routes can work great..

Exactly why we need another weapon at WR so Teams have to play more zone and AR and MM can use AR'S strengths pre snap reads and getting the ball out fast..

Really...anyone who thinks we can win anything significant this season no matter what we do is likely being very, very optimistic.

Which is why I think Rooney needs to start focusing more on the medium term. But I don't think he will.

So I expect AR to be our QB again next year.

Maybe Rodgers is waiting on the Steelers draft? Get the pieces he wants and he signs up. Steelers go in another direction (CB, DL, safety) and maybe he decides he's done? Given his perceived attitude toward rookie WRs though I can't see how that would tip the scale.

Would have to be a polished WR who runs crisp routes.. A WR like Emeka Egbuka first in the building ,last one out and watching film with AR 3 or 4 nights a week with AR..

Tate or Tyson IMO and we also need another Vet WR of the same caliber..A Metcalf,Adams and Tate combo would force zone almost all the time also creating a lot of space for our RB'S to run and catch ..

IMO MM is going to be aggressive to fix the WR room now ..Our Defense is about to age out so they deserve a competitive Offense , IMO that is AR and weapons and a good OC ..

I realize it was 7-6 in the 4qtr
But it felt insurmountable with the lack of offense we had

"I think the circumstances are a little different, but just conversations we've had, I don't think either side wants to have this drag on like it did last year," Steelers general manager Omar Khan said Tuesday at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Omar Khan said last week that there wasn't a deadline on Aaron Rodgers' decision, but "It just isn't going to go like it did last year."

Screaming at players is a funny way of saying they had a blast out there. Then again, Rodgers is kind of an oddball.

If it comes down to Willis or Rodgers though I’d rather have Aaron. Malik just doesn’t seem to have the IT factor IMO. Would rather see Howard learn from Rodgers just because I think Will may have the IT factor.

We gave it a shot last year and while it was probably better than I expected by the end it was clear this won’t work. Grow some stones and move on.

That is my head scratcher. The Steelers have made No Offers to Aaron Rodgers to be a member of the 2026 team. Don't get mad at Aaron for not signing with the Steelers, the team has never reached out to make him an offer to come back this year. WTF???

Tail wagging the dog here. Aaron Rodgers can't sign with the Steelers right now even if he wanted to, because Khan and the Steelers have never made him an offer for this year.

He can’t sign something that isn’t there.

    He has been offered nothing.

    It takes 2 to tango.

Who knows what you can believe but if he goes on the show and says that you have to believe him. I mean if they did make an offer and he said that??? Would be crazy even for him. Giving me a little hope they are not making him option A.

in my honest opinion, i believe no matter what AR does it will have no bearing on what the steelers do in the draft. i truly believe they have a draft plan of possibly drafting a QB if the right one falls or not drafting one at all. i do feel they are interested in finding out what howard has to offer as a legit QB but would draft one if the right guy falls. i think they feel MR can be serviceable if need be, whether i or anyone else thinks so. i really think this draft will be one where they load the team with as much as they can as they have 12 picks and no clear, i want this guy no matter what, QB. i think they learned their lesson on reaching on a QB with pickett.

i truly think the like howard. but i also think they plan to load the team for whatever QB is going to be the guy. i expect they sign someone in FA but i think that someone will be someone who understands they are not the for sure starter.

I am a Rogers fan, I loved his influence here and how he influenced the offense.
    The problem was/is, He's 40+

If the Steelers have any inkling that Howard has any chance of becoming a starter, it would not be a bad thing to bring Rogers back.
But I am hesitant to say 'as a starter.'

I am also very skeptical about Omar's evaluation of Howard.
I am cautiously optimistic about McCarthy's evaluation but if he says 'go' then it's probably worth the watch.
If they go with Howard and Mason, I think signing a vet is still worthwhile. Skylar might fit that scenario.
All this is a big risk though.

To reduce that big risk, they do need to find WR's (2 at least) and improve the run game via the OL.
New coaching might mine out talent already on the roster as I feel like weak coaching on the OL and OC as well as DC caused a lot of grief.
    So it's a lot of if's.

Not unlike Brady or Manning. Perfectionists at the position tend to make their feelings well known in the heat of the moment.

This same HC, and Im not saying he will , or won't do the same here, but the same HC had Rodgers at his ultimate best, and only made one SB.

I agree and was saying the same thing last off-season - that the team must be in contact with him and know what he's doing. He's already said that he's in contact with both McCarthy and Omar. I'm sure the topic has been discussed and both sides know where they stand.
