If Rodgers retires they will bring someone else in

They will not go Into camp with Howard as QB1

I doubt the will go into camp with Mason as QB1

So the only question is Di you want Rodgers or someone else

Rodgers coming back makes sense since Howard or a QB drafted can sit and learn like Allar.

This team isn't close to competing for a Championship. Pieces need to be in place in several areas.

Murray is 5'8" with lifts. And why if he is so franchise worthy if Arizona is giving him the gate?

I don't see why it is so unfathomable to give Howard a shot at QB1 if Rodgers retires, especially if he shows well in training camp and pre-season, even if they do bring someone else in. I can guaranty you that "someone" else won't be anything special, just another teams reject. Anyway, Rogers will probably return, and he may very well be their best option available, but I'm not exactly thrilled with the prospect.

Arizona wants his contract gone so that they can start again, it’s as simple as that. They paid him too much and they know it. Murray is never getting a deal like that again.

Whoever the Steelers take at QB this season will likely be short term, one year, Rodgers, Murray, Mariota, whoever it is will be a stop gap. There is no long term answer coming this offseason so it really a case of who makes the most sense in terms of cost and team fit.

I'd take him over Malik Willis any freaking day, but outside of that, No.

Murray has next-to-zero value to any NFL team except for one thing. He'll be signing for league minimum. He'd be cheap.

I was not a Murray fan from the moment my son came out of his room saying, "Hey, Dad. Guess who I was playing X-box with over the internet....Kyler Murray."
This was on a Wednesday, during the regular season..... Murray playing X-box instead of preparing for the next game......
    Loser.

Yes I do understand that. But the OP stated that he would be available to be the Steelers future starting QB? Hopefully in jest.

Why would anyone want a castoff who is average or below like Fields and Willis? All are the same.

The only admiration for some (not me) is that Arizona is on the hook for his remaining bonus. So he can sign for the vet minimum.

Just let Rodgers come in again to appease "Run it Back" Rooney II and have either Howard or if they draft Aller take over next season.

That's why at 28 years old Murray was booted out of Arizona instead of being an All Pro QB. He just never wanted to put in the work.

A BIG No Thanks to Webster as the new QB......

Live in area n have seen his games, guy is The Tin Man = No heart!!

Takes sacks when pressure is near, simply isn't a winner n NOT what steelers need, IMO

    Thanks, but no thanks.

I’d take Mason or Howard over him.

After listening to the most recent Terrible Podcast, I retract any and all support I provided upthread re: signing Murray.

Apparently he's a brutal deep ball passer even though he's played very few (almost no) games in cold weather and / or with precipitation.

Sounds like the exact opposite of what we need in Pittsburgh.

Although...since I (not so) secretly want a rebuild, maybe this would be a great choice for us.

Yes I think it’s very likely to be Rodgers for the Steelers, as unappealing as that is.

I think Murray will end up on the Jets or Falcons where he might feel that he has a shot at a long term job. Honestly I don’t think he is as bad as some on here are making out. I wouldn’t be upset if the Steelers signed him for one year at vet min but he is certainly not what they need in the long term.

Having Rodgers back would be the best thing that could happen for Will Howard and possibly for the team’s future. If they want to draft a QB, they should take someone in R3, but not earlier-IMO.

    I would.

38-48-1 in 7 seasons. 0-1 in the playoffs.

Had a clause into his contract to watch game film and stay away from the video games.. Didn't put the work in to remain with Arizona. If he was IT they would have swallowed up the cap hit and proceeded forward. He is not.

Now some want him to come here and put in the work with a totally different offensive scheme?

But but he will only cost the vet minimum of 1.3 mill. That's some of the rationale floating out there.

I thought I read some where that if a team was to take Murray on a one year deal they could sign him for the minimum because the Cardinals are paying his guarantees. That makes him very appealing.

If Murray paid the Steelers to play, I wouldn't see that as appealing.

We had Wilson and Fields when other teams were paying for them. No thanks to the cheap, 1-year retreads.
