All of these Wideouts ran in the 4.4s sans A.J. Gren. None of them ran in the 4.3s at the Combine. Speed helps but is a very poor metric to determine how good a Wideout will be; Top 5 doubly so.



So again, 40 Yard Dash Times for Wideouts are comically overrated. See Xaiver Worthy for further information.

 

The interviews don't worry me nearly as much as his inability to separate consistently at the LOS. Why that is being largely ignored is something I'd like to know. People keep comparing him to St. Brown and I simply don't see how or why.


Brown was stronger and more adept at separating at the LOS. Lemon isn't. Makai Lemon is more Jahan Dotson than he is St. Brown. Seriously though, compare some of Dotson's tape at Penn State vs Lemon's tape at USC. The similarities are very much there.

 

Fair enough, but my point is if Chase ran a 4.6 he wouldn't have been drafted in the top 5.

 

Good to see people calling Schefter out for doing spin control for Tate's agent.

 

Thats what happens when you D sucks. But hey the Offense broke some of the team records. Shows Defense is very important.
Another example of how 2 guys can't win in football with a terrible team.

 

Tate didn't run a 4.3 and will be just fine. Chase could have even run a 4.6 and would have been fine. Anquan Boldin was pretty damn good despite having a less than stellar 40 time.


Again, 40 Yard Dash Times are overrated sans two exceptions; players that need to prove they can play faster than their speed on tape or Cornerbacks. That is pretty much the list.

 

I don't think it will hurt Tate that much he will likely still be WR1, we agree to disagree on the other points.

 

I was a college athlete and could barely break 5 flat at 5'10'' 185lbs in my athletic peak. 4.91 for me lol though my 40 time didn't matter as much for golf

WRs should run their 40 with aCB holding inside leverage and a hand on their shoulder. Or getting jammed at the starters pistol. Lol

 

I personally would just scrap the 40 Yard Dash all together. Measuring GPS Speed while running 40 Yards?! That is more applicable there as that is a superior measurement of speed imo.

 

i'm liking brazzell more and more. he can do so many things well at that size. speed is just an addition. the production was there as well.

I still think the Steelers Interview with Carson Beck is the one to watch out for.

If we are bringing Rodgers back, he is not going to want to see the Steelers spend an early pick on a Backup player he can't use in 2026.

I think both Ty Simpson and Drew Allar will be long gone before the Steelers start picking in the 3rd round. Beck should still be there when the Steelers start drafting on their extra Comp Picks.

 

I think that our meetings tell the story of what we're looking at early. SteelersDepot tracked 41 meetings. 16 were WR's, 16 were DB's (S and CB combined). That's a massive percentage. It seems like we've identified our needs/desires early in the draft.

I wouldn't be shocked nor surprised. Not betting on it though. The Pro Day and Pre Draft Visits will be interesting and telling.

 

I think some casual fans might confuse speed with 'separation' and that is fallacy. Antonio Brown ran a 4.56 at the combine and look how that turned out.
