Okay, this may be a little silly, but thought this might be fun since we're all stuck with preseason. I had a thought when I was re-watching the preseason opener. I was watching David Paulson and kept thinking...he reminds me of someone. Then it dawned on me... the way he ran his routes and his body movements....

so, in order to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me, I went back to double-check

    David Paulson: 6'4", 246lbs.
    Bennie Cunningham: 6'5", 251lbs.

Obviously, Paulson has nothing in common in terms of what he's done in the NFL, but he does look similar to me when he's playing. And yes, I do realize this is a ridiculous stretch for a comparison otherwise (except for the Black and Gold colors), lol.

So, my question for the other posters is....

What current Steeler reminds you of a previous Steeler and why?

Imagine if he did live up to this though...even a little bit? haha

Well, everyone says LeVeon Bell is the second coming of the Bus... Personally, I don`t see it, but i hope they`re right!!!
Then, there`s Suisham... he`s a little white dude, that`s good at kickin field goals... like Jeff Reed...LOL...:lolol:... I just couldn`t really think of another one... I tried...
McClendon could easily be our next kick-ass NG, like Casey, but really loox nuthin like him, and plays with a different style, same for our LB`s, or anyone else...
They all do good, in their own way, but I`m havin a hard time finding a twin to Webster, or Lloyd, or...Woodson, or anyone, really, at any one position, who am I missin?
There`s only one Keisel, Polamaluo, Harrisson, Kevin Greene, Greg Lloyd, etc....
Same thing at RB...QB... Ol... I just can`t think of another at any position...
    Next?

When I saw DC Jefferson (7th round pick this year from Rutgers) play for the Cardinals over the weekend, I immediately thought of Bennie Cunningham.

My 2nd thought was, boy I hope BA is dumb enough to cut him or or put him on their practice squad. LOL ;)

    DC Jefferson: 6'5", 255lbs

No way is Pouncey "OVERRATED"... He`s too young... to be 'RATED"!!! lol...
IF he can stay healthy... he could follow in the footsteps of Dawson, Webster, etc...
His knees/ankles, worry me a bit, but, I`m crossin my fingers he stays healthy, ...
He could continue a strong tradition...
    GO STEELERS!!!

While I don't think Pouncey is overrated at all, he is not on Dirts level, doesn't remind me of him at all.

I can see the comparison between Clark and Shell

Give Pouncey time... I just have a gut feeling that IF he can stay healthy, he will play at Dirt`s level...
I agree he ain`t there yet, but he shows promise...:yeehaw:

So many times pouncey plays high, gets his ass kicked but looks good cause of his address.

Let me put it to you like this. Ricky Lake isnt a prize... but you have a couple rolling rocks and head out. In the establishment you see Ricky Lake sitting with Oprah, Roseanne Barr, and Betty White. Now you arent looking at bank statements but these women themselves, In life she may be a 3.5 to a 4 , but in supply and demand in the company she was keeping you ended up with a 10.

    Ricky Lake= Pouncey,

Oprah, Betty White and Roseanne are the others in his company

I've said from the moment we drafted him that Leveon bell's running style was remeniscent of bam morris......

Markus wheaton is a lot like john stallworth ( yeah I know that's a serious comparison)

Shemarko thomas is the 2nd coming of thomas Everett

Jarvis jones reminds me of a young jason gildon

Unfortunately landry jones is looking a lot like cliff stoudt..

Sean suisham, with his accuracy, is looking a lot like gary anderson, with slightly less power

I see the similarity in dawson and pouncey. I've watched all 3 and then some and I truly would rank dawson ahead of iron mike as a center. pouncey will be better in this scheme. it brings out his abilities better. just like dawsons. they are and were very good on the move. mike was a stand your ground type center.

I don't think however there are a lot of real good centers in the league to go by as of late. pouncey staying is my concern. would he go to Miami and play with his brother in their backyard?

bennie Cunningham was one of my favorites. I don't see he and Paulson being similar. I see a little more of heath in Paulson. very little at the points they are currently at, but some.

    barry foster and dwyer maybe.

mclendon and big play ray seals.

maybe Timmons and david little, with a sprinkle of levon Kirkland and a dash of earl holmes in there.

With Wallace's contract the dolphins are kinda stuck. They can't offer Pouncey a lot because they will have their own free agents to worry about.

Actually Suisham reminds me more of Matt Bahr than any other Steeler kicker I can recall.

    Lol at Cliff Stoudt.

Exactly, Pouncey shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Dawson. Dawson makes him look like a high school center.

Well, I was hoping the post would make for some fun conversation, and especially as it concerns Pouncey, it certainly did. In any case, your comments about Heath and Paulson are spot on. I wasn't sure if anyone would mention it, but Heath is listed as 6'5", 251 I believe. That puts Heath, Paulson and Cunningham in almost identical body frames. Neither Heath or Paulson have the athletic ability of Bennie, but I'll take whatever similarities I can find....

I just like reminiscing a bit before we kick of the 2013 version.

I also liked the comparison of JJ to JG. Let's hope he develops a mean streak, because he seems a little too polite right now.

Tonight we'll see if Bell has any chance to be another great back in the mold of our power icons of past....

Bottom line I guess, is that we have 6 SB's for a reason, and it's fun to see where the bar is on our way to #7.;)
