Steelers' Captain Puts His House On Market In Pittsburgh With Free Agency Exit Now Expected

I guess the Special Teams captain is not part of the plans for the new coaching staff. I wonder what the odds are that Killebrew will follow Danny Smith to Florida.

I had aways heard reports that Mike Tomlin kept more special team's players on his roster than any other coach in the NFL. I remember every time Mike Tomlin would talk about making the 53-man roster for the younger guys, he always made it a point to mention their contributions on the special teams.

Killebrew was something special the last few years on Special Teams; he will be missed.

Or he is expecting a huge pay raise and preparing to buy his McMansion.

Not surprised he's 32 and coming off of a serious injury, let's get some backup safeties who can actually play defense.

Despite being an outstanding special teams player, he was also a Tomlin favorite. So I'd assume he is smart enough to see the writing on the wall. The staff that valued his skills are gone and the new one might have different standards and he could be on the bubble.

He would have had an end of year exit meeting that gave him some insight

Sebastian Castro could be next in line to be a Special Teams Demon. Not the most athletic but very reliable in tackling and technique.

    You never know these days.

He just finished a 2 year, 6.5 million contract. League vet min for an eleven year player is just shy of 1.5 million. So far he has made about 16.5 million in NFL earnings. At age 55 he will also qualify for the NFL pension which he hit the cap for with 10 seasons. In today's money that is paying about $120,000 a year.

It always amazes me just how bad some people can be with their money. I would like to think that he is set for life, but how many players have we read about driving for dominoes after they made millions in the NFL because they were stupid with their money and had too many 'friends' who were not friends?

Unless you've seen it publicized, I highly doubt Tomlin or any coaches had end of the year exit meetings. They were all told to seek other work.

    You are correct

I was just thinking Omar since he’s the main hiring firing guy but he was a little busy at the time

Although I would think the new staff has talked to as many players as possible

I would think they would but also Miles is smart and knows his worth is special teams and that Tomlin loved his contributions so there is no guarantee that the new staff will have that same values. Or maybe he is just ready for a change.

32 coming off a season ending ACL injury in week six. Wasn't a difference maker when he was used at safety.

But a first team All Pro on special teams in 2023 and was chosen to be the special teams Capitan three times.

I appreciated his efforts. Maybe he will land with Bubble Yum in Tampa.

The more I think about it the more I think this is correct

    He is an UFA

Omar and the new coaching staff would have looked at every UFA and gave them some idea of the teams desire to resign them

    He was a no

Not a surprise and some may say expected with the emergence of Skowronek and Bruener.
