I would hope so since he's an offensive HC and calls the plays .

Hey Shula and the passing coordinator both stayed home in LA
    Schelnasse? Got promoted to OC
    Knew he was too green
    What happened with Shula?
    Los Angeles Rams
defensive coordinator Chris Shula did not land a head coach (HC) job in the 2026 cycle primarily due to reports that he performed poorly, or "bombed" his virtual interview with the Pittsburgh Steelers, leading teams to question his readiness. Despite seven requests and five interviews, teams favored more experienced candidates, and his lack of head coaching experience raised concerns regarding in-game management and leadership.

I wasn't all that high on them hiring on Shula anyway.

I mean, there are a lot of good college QB's who have never had a receiving option drafted as high as Warren was. He also had a pretty good line and pretty good backs. Its hard for me to say that he played bad because his WR's were bad. He generally just played bad because he was bad.

I don't know what he will develop into in the NFL. I don't think his arm and size make up for his deficiencies. I'd rather we use our 2nd and 3rd round picks on different positions. Only QB's I'm interested in right now are first round QB's. We have a developmental QB already.

But well all knew he was going to do that without 11 defenders opposing him. Allar reminds of Howard. He has the size and arm, but what is upstairs is the issue. Can he do it? Can Howard even do it? I think a 3rd is way too high for Allar, IMO. It is a weak QB class this year. I don't even think Mendoza is that great.

Nor do I, but he is a man with talent that plays a talent starved poison.

Round two is possible. If he was 2" taller, 15 pounds heavier, and had a clean medical report >>> then he would be a first round guy.

Allar is an unusual prospect in things he needs to work on and can improve with an offensive minded head coach. As they say you can't coach size, or arm strength.

Allar had a bozo for a head coach, and grade C receivers to work with in college. A terrible combination. Not his fault.

I think a QB either sees the game quickly and makes good choices or he is not good at doing this. That 3 second window. He has some conservative tendencies in his game. That is to say he does not run that ball over often. He aslo needs work on hitting players on the move big time.

With Allar a team that picks him does not take a swing at a pitch in the dirt, rather a fast ball that is a bit off target which might be a home run to the batter who takes a swing at it.

When he had a good TE, he was much better in college. Just saying...

His upside to me is a top 15 NFL passer with elite size and arm who really fits a deep passing attack that mixes in play action well.

If we do not pick a QB in round one, round three for Allar and Mike McCarthy works for me. I will take a chance to hit a home run.

Penn State fans were saying if only we had a coach that played to his strentghs. I dont watch enough of their games to have an opinion on the coaching but sounds like they didnt do Allar any favors from what I was reading.

Was supposed to be the year last season. Then this season. Then next season it will all of a sudden be weak again.

I'm not saying that Allar, Nussmeier, Simpson are it. But, who knows?

The bottom line is that we need a QB for the future. Even if Ayahuasca Rodgers comes back.

They have an offensive Head Coach now so let him work some magic. I trust him to do it unlike the last head coach.

Any pick is a crap shoot.

Its high time to draft a QB. Not in the 1st. That's reserved for a receiver for me. A corner in the 2nd. Another receiver in the 3rd. Then Guard Then a QB.

But if McCarthy is enamored with one of these QB's it might be sooner then later.

    :hmm:

People do understand that drafting a QB like Drew Allar doesn't forbid the team from drafting one in 2027 right?! Drew Allar, Garrett Nussmeier or whomever else shouldn't be the whole talking point of discussion anyways. What should be is what the entire Offense around the QB will look like in 2026. Hell, you could even add Prime Peyton Manning and he would still have issues with an Offense featuring only one Wideout who can separate at the LOS in D.K. Metcalf. Every other WR on the roster either still needs time (Roman Wilson) or simply cannot and therefore are slot limited (CA III). There is also the Broderick Jones Question to answer as well.

For a QB to succeed, his team better be pretty damn good; starters and depth. Pittsburgh doesn't have many good starters and the depth on some positions is either insufficient or lacking as a whole.

In the playoffs against Notre Dame in 2024 his receivers didn't catch a pass .
