You do need more than one TE. But we'll probably have way fewer snaps for TEs next season vs. last season.

And I think you're right that in a more passing oriented offense, I think McCarthy will prefer to have Muth on the field.

Which means I don't think we'll play Washington most of the time.

Washington played 57% of snaps last year (546...for the denominator, I think PFF only counts snaps in games where the player dressed...I think we played 1105 total offensive snaps)

Jonnu Smith inexplicably played 52% of snaps last year (536).

Muth played 51% of snaps last year (522).

Good news for Washington / Smith is we're almost certainly getting rid of Smith (I think it was malpractice to have given him so many snaps when the team did better in both rushing and passing plays when Muth was on the field)

But the bad news for the TEs is that we're almost certain to run a lot fewer 2 and 3 TE sets.

I think McCarthy will gravitate more to Muth. And that we'll dramatically under utilize Washington (who I think is better). So I'd rather trade Muth and pick up another all-around TE. I think Muth is too good to be in a smaller role (like the one we had him in last year). So if he's TE2, I think he may be more valuable as a trade asset than a backup. But it's always nice to have injury insurance...so if he doesn't get anything back in trade I'd keep him.

    Wait, wait, wait wait. LoL.
I was under the understanding that a good HC, and OCs use the players the best for them, and scheme around them, not force them into their scheme. At least that's what many people on here told me about great HC, and OCs. Now someone is telling me we have two could be great TEs, and they probably won't use them because it's not how the HC likes to play. Am I hearing this correctly??

I don't know about could be great.

I do think that moving away from an OC that runs 2 and 3 TEs more than just about anyone else means TEs will get fewer dnsps.

But I have to imagine we'll cut Jonnu, so that will hopefully help.

I just don't want Washington to go back to his rookie usage because I think he can be effective in the passing hand because he's sick a mismatch

I think both Muth, and Washington could be great. They have both shown flashes of it, and Washington has grown every year.
Again I was told(I'm using this because thats what many try saying no matter who our OCs have been) that a Great OC doesn't make players run his scheme, he schemes for the player, and if You have two let's say good TEs, why then would they not run two TEs sets.

I do think that the best coordinators tailor their schemes to their players.

    But very few do this.

Billy B was very good at this IMO.

TE usage is up league wide.

why i think they may weigh heavy on kenyon sadiq in the draft. he can also play as a big WR in some roles with his size and speed. heyward had 9% share as well 90 snaps.

Drafting a tackle with a high pick is not a need anymore with the emergence of Cook.

Picking a tackle later in the draft in round 4-7 as we have 12 overall draft picks, is something I am on board with.

A starting guard of at least adequate or better quality is a bigger need.

I like Duker in round two or three.

This might be true but even guru McVay has his system that his offense is based on.

I never said they should draft a LT with a high pick they need some depth all they have is Cook and Fautanu, Jones is an uncertainty and they just released Calvin Anderson.

I hope not they have holes to fill; Sadiq would be a luxury pick when you already have Muth and Washington.

I don't think they will keep all 12 picks because 12 rookies won't make the team, I wouldn't be surprised if they traded up at least once in this draft.

This should shock no one. Broderick's injury was called significant by Omar Khan and therefore puts his availability for 2026 in limbo at present. If anything, Kadyn can theoretically kill two birds with one stone. If Isaac leaves, still draft a Guard but have Kadyn take over at that spot to start out his career. Should Broderick still underperform in 2026, slot Kadyn in for the opportunity to start at the Left Tackle spot in 2027.

... Again.. assuming he can even get past Detroit; something I don't foresee happening.

I agree. I hope khan trades picks in 2026 for higher picks in 2027 then takes a QB in 2027.
