If the average cost for each player is 3 million, and you have 53 players, and a 16 player practice squad. That's about 207 million just to pay your players. Now how much do you think it cost to feed all those mouths, staff, everyone in the whole organization, keep the lights on, maintain the facilities, so on, and so on.
I didn't even mention paying coaches.

Maybe Schenley Park/ Flagstaff hill but I can see the public outcry if the city gave that away

Salary cap us near $300M employee taxes benefits insurance etc are typically around 38% so that is another $114M

Poof all of the tv revenue is gone there

Doing a quick calculation ticket sales are about $60M

Poof ticket sales dollars are gone

Basically what is left is hot dog sales

And the team receives money from local radio and tv stations along with the majority of revenue from their stadium .

Some owners have massive personal wealth that allows them to spend more on things like stadium renovations and the large escrow payments required for fully guaranteed player contracts. Owners whose wealth is primarily tied up in the team itself often receive lower marks from players for facility investment.

Steelers could renovate the bathrooms during the NFL playoffs. No one's at the stadium then....
