I don't understand the D-Line talk in the 1st round. With the huge holes at WR and CB, are they going to spend a 1st round pick on a backup D-Lineman?

Maybe I am crazy, but I still like Benton.

i have seen other write ups about us liking terrell. as for mcdonald, i have touched on him too, not the sexy pick everyone might want but this kid is solid as a rock on the interior. sadiq at TE, again everyone will say we don't need a TE, well one that is that size and runs like many of the top WR's ain't a bad way to go. offensive tackle the same. just because you have some of these positions, if you have a chance to possibly upgrade them enough it would be worth the pick.

If Lemon falls to 21 then take him if WR is what they really want. I would not use the 21st pick on Boston or Concepcion. I would rather grab a NT at 21 than those two.

Who is going to fall to 21? Will Peter Woods be there?

It will be about value. Lemon will probably be gone. I don't think there will be a CB available that is worthy of the 21st pick. We do not have a NT. We will have to see who is available at 21. I am open to DT, WR, CB, OT, S and LB. Those positions all have huge holes, IMO.

Dline isnt quite there yet. You are trying to emulate lines like the Seahawks and Eagles who just wreck games.

I think Black is a good versatile depth piece that you can rotate in or in case of injury but they can do better as a starter.

    Starters:
    Harmon, Benton, McDonald

    Depth:
Black + Lee (or draft pick)

    That front would cook.

Heyward is still playing at a second team all pro level. I doubt this is his last year.

He’s still not in the future plans for the line. He’s at the end of his career. This season or next will be his last. Thats why Im not including him.

McCarthy is here to build a team. I'm going to trust in his process. I'm good with this draft however it goes. I have no expectations going into it as far as prioritizing position groups. Personally, I like to build inside out. OL and DL first.

i think a lot will be determined by who we go after in free agency to how this draft rolls.

This is a fairly special D-line class this yr..... especially at the top... next yr we'll have a Cam Heyward sized hole to fill on the line as i'm pretty sure this will be his final season....
There's plenty of talent to be had at other positions in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rds....
Games are still won up front

Now that Austin is gone, I am going to assume Yahya Black is going to be your starting NT this year.

I am pretty sure it was Austin who said they would not be playing the 6'5" 352 lb Yahya Black at NT after drafting him.
    https://steelersdepot.com/2025/09/d...ins-why-yahya-black-isnt-playing-nose-tackle/

I think they need to move Benton to the Outside to take over for Cam, and have Yahya spend all his time in practice at NT, now that DC Austin is gone.

The cost to move up far enough to get Downs would have to be no less than Alex Highsmith and a few draft picks
