Heard that probably easier to get guys to stuff the box and bring the heat ..i Just think its harder to get guys to play in space where the scheme or Coach can't help them as much..As a former Coach I can out do your pass rush much easier its harder to beat coverage IMHO....

Basically its a Chicken and Egg thing ,the old school game I agree ,but in the new game my stance is coverage 1st,it also means scoring the ball and forcing Teams to go against said coverage..Our new Coach had problems with his Defense ,but he could always score the ball..I hope we can catch Lightning in a bottle..

Pay the man I said 25 Mil per year was fair ,but pay what we have to pay.. Keep this dude don't do a Pickens thing and F it up...

What take hard? Your last words were something like....no matter what You say you can't change my mind. Well either you want me to take you at your word, or you don't. If I take You at your word, than I'm wasting my time talking to you about it. Don't get Your panties in a bunch.

    Um...

If the term Elite Pass Rush is applied here, I would agree. However, an elite pass rusher can only do so much on his own. Myles Garrett, is by all accounts, an elite pass rusher. That didn't stop teams from throwing the football against Cleveland.

Yes, Cleveland finished third overall in yards given up against the pass but were 18th in passing TDs given up.

    This.

More specifically, an elite pass rush. Finding that dude at IDL or EDGE is a superb benefit. Having both?! You really have something special there.

We’ve seen what an elite pass rush does to teams in recent SB’s. Even getting the ball out in 2 seconds is difficult when the pocket is being collapsed immediately.

Seahawks and Eagles dismantled their opponents with a superior pass rush.

How about both though, elite pass rush and good coverage. Dream big!

He’s worth what the market says he is. Sauce and Stingley both get 30 million. The next two closest are Horn and Surtain at 25 and 24 mil respectively.

Joey is going to get paid.

We’ll see. He’s playing every bit as good as those guys. Or we can let him walk and go back to crying how we have no good players in the secondary.

FWIW, this is good for us IMO with JPJ going into contract negotiations.

    He'll get paid a lot.

But it will be less than if he had multiple (genuine, not injury replacement) PBs or All-Pros.

With the cap going over 300 mil and no franchise QB eating up cap space, now is the time to pay guys. If they found a franchise QB this season he wouldn’t get paid for 4 years and by that time these contracts will be coming off books.

They have a shut down CB, can find another to pair with him this draft. They have good pieces on DL and OL that still need a little more work. Now is not the time to get stingy on contracts and let a very good player go creating a gaping hole.

I think Porter gets 30 at a minimum, he had a fantastic season. If they get him for 28, that would be good work by Khan.

Steelers can tag him for $21M. JPJ doesn't have all the leverage.

I agree with you re: roster construction.

And I think you're also right about the contract value based on some of the back of the envelope math from earlier in the thread.
