But plenty of us want to move on from him.let a younger QB try his hand. If we go 7-10 so be it we will move up in next years draft when possibly l The
    qb's are better.

This sums it up. Porter has his flaws, but the Steelers would be stupid to low-ball him.

No one is talking about low balling him, give him a fair contract but remind him he has not made all pro and has limited interception and turnovers in his career so far.

I disagree .. A west coast type system is better for a non mobile QB.. Faster WR'S who can get open faster , a OC that uses the middle passing game to keep the inside players from playing force on outside plays.. A Offense that lets the RB be a weapon not a QB protector .ie swings passes screens ,wheel routes ... out in the patterns ..Fewer TE sets ,fewer Defenders in the box..

The entire system slows blitzing, stunting, and forces more coverage guys to the field the fight in no longer in a phone booth...This directly helps your QB...

With good play calls and good play design and quality talent those dink and dunks turn into huge plays and when the Defense adjust you take the top off.. Having a QB who has the smarts has a cannon and can still throw it 60 yards sounds good to me....

My answer is he will be in the top 10 maybe the top 7 ...

I would love some of whatever chemicals are supporting the fantasy world you’ve found yourself in.

Rodgers was once the best QB I’ve ever seen play football. He was truly magical.

He’s bottom third of the league now. He needs to hang ‘em up.

Fair enough, I just think letting Will learn is the way to go .. IMO he will learn best in practice and on the Bench behind a QB guru .. AR is tough on WRS for running the wrong routes not doing what is best for the play..AR will help get these guys locked in and better for the Team in the long run...

I think the staff will know if Will is the answer by the way he prepares for practice and how he looks in practice , if any doubts we do take a stab at a QB next draft for sure..

By the way I ran this thread off the track..Sorry .. We should try to keep Porter ,he is a great young CB ..IMO the Team needs to start swinging that money on Defense towards the DBS ...

25 Mil per year seems fair to me..

Porter's most important job is shutting down the other team's WR1, especially against AFCN opponents. I don't have his stats vs who he was covering. Not perfect but if we only look at the WR1s vs PIT we can get some idea of his play.

(btw, if his agent mentions 'pro bowl' I laugh at his face. Shadeur Sanders made the pro bowl. PB is a nothing burger)

That's low-balling. The market for corners is high. The Steelers can remind Porter that hes not an All Pro all they want. If JPJ were to hit the open market he will get paid like an elite corner. A fair contract is a contract that is not significantly less than Porter would make elsewhere.

Yep. Unfortunately, the players also know that waiting is best for them (e.g., Watt).

    Certainly true for replacements.

That's why only being named to the original team is the only thing that matters for 5th year options (e.g., why Najee was still in the playing time category after being an injury replacement for the PB in year 1).

Unfortunately, PFR (stupidly) doesn't differentiate between actually making the probowl and being an injury replacement (at least on a player's page). So Najee's PB is there for his rookie year. And I don't know if Horn's PB appearances are legit or not either.

I hope it's that low because it would be team friendly.

But I expect it to be close to (and maybe beyond) $30MM.

That's a good breakdown, and I agree. I think a 4 or 5 year deal at around $27million per would be a pretty good deal all around. You would think there would have to be a good amount of guaranteed money in there, but that's just the cost of doing business today.

Again. You got a actual shut down CB that has show to get better every year, and is still way young. You must keep him. Period. I don't care what D you run.
