Kink is a regular on Filliponi's podcast and tends to make stuff up just to have something Steelers related to say, especially in a no-news period of the off season.

(btw, she probably gave a quiet fist pump when Tomlin retired because he did not like her one bit)

Under Popcorn, Steelers did less with more. Those teams (Rams, 49ers, Packers) find ways to do more with less.

The Packers haven't made it back to the Super Bowl since 2010, and the 49ers haven't won a Super Bowl since 1994 .

I think there is a going to be a lot of fans having an existential crisis next season.

Playoff wins. 49ers and Packers sure as hell have won more playoff games than Steelers in the past decade.

49ers made 2 Super Bowls within 4 years with different QBs.

Steelers haven't sniffed a Super Bowl since February of 2011.... aka ancient history.

Not me. But I do think it's gonna be more of the same... Steelers will compete for 7th seed, but not be among the elite. Same as it ever was.

    Why?

Seriously, I have never understood this position by fans of any team in any sport. If your team wins one Wildcard game each year and then goes out in the Divisional round....is that cool? Like what is the point? What is the achievement that has been made?

I've always figured that each season is a chance to build towards a sustained SB contention window. Personally, I don't care about the individual season outcomes as long as each years is building towards something. That has been what is been so frustrating about the last half decade of Steelers football - the team has not really been building towards something...just lurching from season to season.

However, I have been encouraged by the committment to building the OL and DL. Because whatever coems next...that will be good foundation.

And there are A LOT of Steelers fans across the internet that think easy solutions exist and when changing out the coaches is a push at best....it is going to break their fragile eggshell minds.

Last time I checked.... wildcard and divisional round games must be won to get to the Super Bowl.

Being complacent with quick wildcard round playoff exits is not for me. Never was.

OK. I believe I understand how the playoff format works.

But you dodged the question pretty solidly.

With the new regime if they make steps to move forward clean out some dead wood and draft wisely I would consider competing for the 7th seed next year would still be a positive

Without a good quarterback and we will not have one next season just fixing other holes should be the goal

New problems will arise and old problems will be solved with new staff. I foresee the O line improving.... and I see our run defense improving. But other areas may suffer.

It is going to be really interesting to see what happens at ILB. Queen and Wilson were a big part of both the success and failure of the run defense. And the team retained the ILB coach. That seems interesting because while I am totally acknowledging that the DL had a big role to play in the struggles of the ILBs in the run game....it was also Queen and Wilson simply having an issue taking on and shedding blockers.

It will be intriguing to see what they do at the position personnel wise and how they ask they ILBers to play.

As long as the steelers don't do a full rebuild, they'll stay where they've been for several years.

It's impossible to realistically have high hopes right now with their current situation. The only situation who can change is to find a franchise QB and have a great draft

Oh, no. It can get much worse. It is hard to see a path where the team immediately gets much better....but I can see multiple paths where the team gets far worse. And quickly.

I wish Steelers would trade/sign a 25-30 year old vet QB (Jones/Willis)... and let Howard compete for starting role and let Rudolph back up whoever the victor is between Howard and vet QB. But this likely will not happen.

We havent gotten anywhere for the past ten years. And havent been to the super bowl in 16 years. Although we had a HOF Qb. We tried to get another franchise Qb in 2022 in the first round and that attempt failed miserably. 3 playoff wins in the last sixteen years. 0 in the last nine.

im ready to see what a new coaching staff can do. Lets see if they can actually find a good Qb, develop him and start winning in the postseason. Im hopeful.
