Does a monthly or annual donation really cut out the ads? I've been burned on ads before. Amazon, Paramount, Netflix, Hulu, etc... says they are ad free and lo and behold... I still get ads.

Not trying to be a peckerhead... but I have other interests besides Steelers and the Bicycle forums, Ski forums, Bass/Guitar forums don't have pop up ads.

 

No. As far as I know you still need a Ad-Blocker to stop the ads.

I think JEH was just saying, that if you are going to block the ads, at least give a donation since you are blocking the financial support for the web-site.

I think the reason that the previous forum I used died was because the site owner was probably losing money on it. So they (understandably IMO) let it die on the vine. And I think the 5-10 people who drove posts on the site weren't really going to be enough to drive much revenue to the owner via ads.

I like the site / community here, so I'm happy to contribute (while also happily blocking ads)

I think donations like this are a way better way to directly support the website. And I'd imagine they are better than ads for the people that run the site (although I've never run an ad based website before). And probably the only real way to preserve sites like this (which allow me to avoid cesspools like reddit).

But I'd imagine that most people (1) hate spam ads and (2) don't click on them except by accident when trying to navigate the site. This is why I think direct support is the best option.

But I completely understand why people set up ads (especially if they are effective at generating revenue). That's why I made the comment at the beginning re: mods deleting.

One cool thing about adding ad blockers (even on phones and tablets) is that if you run youtube through your web browser (I use firefox), you will avoid the ads there too. The reason I'm personally looking at pi-hole (again) is that my kids will sometimes watch youtube stuff on our TV and it's the only way I know how to block ads for my "smart" TV.

I don't get ads either when I'm using Windows 11/Chrome&Firefox on a desktop or laptop... like I am right now posting this. It's hard to use phones/tablets with Android to surf this forum, because of the constant popups.

 

Depressing thought there. Just a guess but I think 75-80% of fan base would be highly agitated if AR is under center next season.

 

You are missing so much. Nose hair clippers were a joy to see and I'll never forget the insects coming out of the crotch area of a female. Another member screen shot it and asked, what the hell. Thankfully it was gone after that.

He's not elite, but he's at least average. And not old and broken.

 

Unfortunately, there's no reason that the cost will be reasonable. The 'niners are a team that is thinking SB with a QB who missed nine games last year. Jones has proven to be a backup capable of stepping in at a cap hit under $4M next year. San Fran will have to have him pried away with a crowbar.

 

Stroud is terrible IMO. We just saw who he really is.

Yes, if you look at Steelers Depot, it’s mostly filled with “so-and-so said” headlines, and when you actually read the articles, they don’t really tell you much of anything.

We only took a Old Ben, Old Rodgers, Mason, Trubisky, Fields, Pickett, and old Russell Wilson to the playoffs.
It's freaking crazy how you hate to give our old coaches any credit that you give other teams for doing the exact same thing.

I would take Stroud over Rodgers at this point. At least You have something to fix. You can't fix Rodgers.
Like I said before, a million times. If you can stay in the NFL, You will get better, until your body begins to betray you. The point is how much better, but with Rodgers his body has already started betraying him, and He can't get better.

It might not be fair, but I tend to assume everything she reports about the Steelers is the opposite of the truth.

 

I like rodgers but I don't want to lose another season since we are not winning the superbowl with rodgers let start the other directions

 

Rodgers needs to hang them up. If he cant take the punishment he shouldn't be playing.

Or he can be a backup or try the george blanda route and try kicking. But no more starting Qb please. Not on this team.
