with the way McCarthy is talking they’ll elevate Howard to primary backup, as long as he does his part in TC and preseason. I hope its backing up MR or another vet, could be AR, although im not that crazy about seeing our steelers turning into the Packers 2.0

but with Rodgers we are buying a short term solution. I'd rather a younger guy take his lumps. And I know it's way frigging early but if we did end up with AR again I'd say we would be in the thick of things in AFCN. As long as Burrow doesn't get to much help. And actually plays a full season.

with the way Rooney is talking i doubt MR/Howard will take the reigns. I think theres a benefit to it; we see if Howard can play and we probably get a high draft pick in 27.

    Nuss had a good showing.

They left off the Int though but from what I heard, that wasnt his fault. Didn’t see it myself.

I wouldn't be butthurt if in so they go with a QB in the 1st. Now with an Offensive driven Head Coach who can develop a QB.

Wait till next years crop. Then fizzle. Oh the 2028 crop is the rage! Fizzle. Hey the 2030 crop...

Its time to rip off the old Band-Aid and start anew.

Dear God, please don't let Pittsburgh trade for that big-headed troll in Arizona or Tua.

I would hate to trade for a QB anyway... if forced to, Mac Jones would be on my list..
Kirk Cousins is almost for sure going to get cut, that would be a Free Agent pick-up and maybe a 1-year deal.... doubtful to happen here.
    Willis is dicey, but maybe.

I’d be a lot more worried about Murray ending up here if Tomlin were still HC.

Enough with this retirement home QB carousel. Play some young guys see what they got and if we’re terrible 2027 you draft a hopeful franchise QB rd 1.

Would love a camp competition between him and Howard. That would make for a very interesting/exciting pick in the first draft in Pittsburgh.

Yeah, ugh. I have hope now with McCarthy that there's more focus on playing modern offensive football with a QB who's strength is throwing to all parts of the field.

It’s a new era in Pittsburgh, with Mike McCarthy taking over for Mike Tomlin. Tomlin was a floor raiser who wasn’t getting the Steelers to their ceiling anymore. And that’s exactly what McCarthy has become, so it’s hard to see it as an upgrade. The Steelers’ biggest question (you know the drill, all together now … ) is they can’t be sure who their quarterback will be. Even if it is Aaron Rodgers, he’ll be 43 years old in December and you’re really gambling on him missing that age cliff again. Also, the Steelers’ defense looked old for a lot of last season. Pittsburgh will probably be what it has been, hovering around .500 with no chance of being a real contender.

A way to early assessment for the Steelers by NFL writers who have nothing to write about.

I wouldn't mind Jones or Willis. I prefer Jones, but I can see the argument for either guy. I am not certain either is worth what is likely to be a high price tag.
