Its not a suspect O line, it is a young up and coming O line. Thats what it was considered at the start of the season at least and still is. Dont let Fautenu’s struggle in the WC game fool you.

we also had a well regarded new OC and a head coach all the players love to play for on a team that still is a playoff team with a winning culture.

we couldve retained Pickens if thats what it would take to sign Darnold.

i think theres a good chance he wouldve taken the money and signed with the steelers. Just mo.

I don’t agree, but I’ll give you the oline. I’ll even contemplate a world where they don’t trade Pickens.

Darnold is a system QB. He doesn’t transcend system. He acknowledges this.

why would he go somewhere that doesn’t run the system that creates his success ?

The only way he might have chosen the Seahawks over the Steelers is if the difference in money was minute. If it was a “dump truck” it would be wildly naive to think he wouldnt accept an offer that blew the Seahawks away. Hell, his agent probably wouldnt even allow that.

If he gets benched after a year, how’s that work?

Darnold spoke about how he wanted to be a starter and play the style of offense that he succeeded in.

That wasn’t what Steelers were offering.

Money talks but it isn’t the only factor in these decisions.

Athletes are A Type personalities, they think they can succeed anywhere. You’re projecting your feelings about the Steelers offense as a fan onto athletes looking for a big payday who believe in themselves.

What system are we talking about? Game managing while Relying on a good running game and defense? Lol

i think we couldve managed that.

We have Darnold’s own statements. I remember him making comments about offensive fit and stuff.

I fully agree that we will never know. But the public information available doesn’t make it seem very likely that Darnold was shopping without some parameters on the search.

    Darnold is gritty, not great.

If he was on a team with just an average defense, he would have to do more and would make many more mistakes.

I think he is just a little above average.
