Steelers drama from former players

He must have felt like Cowher didn't deserve to win with Noll's players (e.g., NOD, Lloyd, Woodson, Lake, Dawson, etc.).

 

If you watch Ben's podcast, or read some of his stuff post retirement; He too Has a lot bad things to say about an out of control Young Big Ben.

 

From what I remember there was a story about Porter calling Ben out in real time when they were teammates for not being a good teammate. We have to remember that team had everything but a QB so I’m sure it was hard to be a leader in his early years.

Hell, I was pissed when I heard he was on a bike without a helmet. That was just dumb and put his life and the orgs investment at risk.

What stood out to me was AB saying he had never been to Ben’s house. The next offseason after AB left there was a team photo with everyone at Ben’s house.

That is the type of stuff I think former teammates hated.

and remember, that 2008 offense was bad, Ben wasn’t practicing and we were struggling until Lefty came in and immediately showed that Ben was half stepping. Ben was practicing the next week.. lol.

I don’t think the defense was mad at Ben because the won SB’s with him. They won SB’s FOR HIM. Let’s not act like we ever made a SB without Dick Lebeau and Troy. IMO Troy was the glue and the engine to our SB’s. Ben definitely did his part but Troy was the real MVP.

 

Gee, the same Kevin Dotson that was abused by Mike Tomlin. Tomlin gave him **** all the time. I guess Tomlin was a real a$$. Oh that's right, that doesn't fit your narrative about bashing Ben every chance you get.

Most franchise quarterbacks aren't the best to the guy trying to take their job. It's very common. Look it up. Ask Steve Young. I guess Montana is a huge jerk too.

Pouncey and Heath Miller were his best friends on the team. Ben was most likely an ass who took everything for granted when he was younger. Grew up, found God, and figured out at some point that he wasn't the center of the universe. He is married with a couple kids. Go figure.

Ben also doesn't say anything like Joey Porter is saying here. He's a classless dude that gets offended over just about anything and runs his mouth like an idiot.....always has. Yet somehow, this is the guy that justifies you thinking Ben is a jerk. Not the guy that disobeyed Cowher's orders about talking, or fighting, or penalties, or any other damn thing that he felt like doing. No....Porter is a saint to you because he speaks badly about Ben.

Oh yeah, those great Steelers defenses from the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's won a ton of Super Bowls without Ben.....

Joey got into Ben's face and ripped his collar shirt because Ben was the 1st one out the door after practice.

Got his head right though at least briefly at the fathility not elsewhere.

 

Tomlin cut Porter. I don't really know if Tomlin meant that much to Porter.

 

It doesn't matter. Charles Manson could say something about Ben and some people here would try to give him credibility. That's how ridiculous this has gotten with some here.

 

Maybe you should stay on topic this isn't about me . Since when is Ben above criticism?

 

It always shocks me when people defend Ben.

The guy was a truly a piece of ****. If he wasn't an elite QB, everyone on here would be trashing him. Somehow 2 SB's makes a lot of people overlook who he truly was.
There's no shortage of stories about him. Finding god doesn't absolve him of ****.
Ben will always be a piece of **** in my eyes. People don't change that much.

 

The thread is "Steelers drama from former players", but you think that it's ok to bash Ben, but nobody could say anything to criticize any other player opening their mouth?

I didn't bash Ben in this thread his former teammates did don't shoot the messenger .

 

I didn't watch the whole interview, but I think he said something about Harrison too considering they let Porter leave and made Harrison a starter.

 

If I recall Emmanuel Sanders said something to the fact that there was stark difference in leadership between him and Peyton. As much as Tomlin didn't get this team to achieve more, Ben didn't evolve and work on his game to constantly improve. He seemed to coast on his natural talent. Just my opinion.
