The Seahawks used am amazing d and average offense to win the super bowl. Darnold was amazing in regular season to get them there. The steelers spend the most money in the league on defense and we are light years from the Dark Side defense. They have elite front four that dominates games. We have a geriatric nt using a archaic system that is obsolete. During this rebuild, need elite front four so you can cover wr with 7 and thats what makes for dominant defense.

In the regular season, the seahawks were 8th in yards and 3rd in PPG.The last time the steelers were in the top 10 in PPG or yards was in 2018.They were often in the bottom 10 since that time. The seahawks offense won the game vs Rams too and the rams were the second best team in the league this year

The seahawks defense is amazing but this is impossible to win the super bowl with the current steelers offense

Apparently, it's also impossible to play even a competitive playoff game with the current Steelers' offense. Excited to see what the new regime tries because the old one was stuck in the play-not-to-lose "scheme".

I don’t hate the McCarthy hire…but I would have given Kubiak a look.

I was told head to head doesn't matter, but we beat the Pats this year, and lost to the Seahawks. Anyone with eyes could tell you we could have won our playoff game this year if our offense did anything, and yet they are thinking of bringing that same Qb back.

Steelers have a lot more problems on offense than just qb that they need to fix first.

QB was the biggest problem with the scheme and wide receiver position

How is the team that was 8th in yards per game and 3rd in points per game an average offense? They were a borderline top 5 offensive unit in the league. Defensively they were 6th in yards allowed and first in points allowed. They were an incredibly balanced team with an excellent defense and really good offense... The team they beat was 2nd in points per game and 3rd in yards per game. Defensively they were 8th in yards allowed and 4th in points allowed.

Its almost as if the most well rounded teams with both really good offenses and really good defenses made it to the SB.

Denver would be a better example of average offense and great defense making it far. They were 2nd in yards allowed per game and 3rd in points allowed per game defensively. However, they were 10th in yards gained offensively and 14th in points offensively. So they had an excellent defense and a just above average offense. The Rams were the opposite with a high powered offense and an above average defense.

Yeah a Qb that is afraid to get hit, and throws the ball in 2.46 seconds has nothing to do with it.
I don't know if you have ever played, but not many routes against a Defense can be run in that time.

maybe if our QB had WR's other than DK to throw to, we could've moved the ball at all. Aaron Rodgers wasn't the worst part of our offense. Our inability to roster NFL caliber WR's at WR2 and WR3 was the worst part. That and our OL got owned pretty hard in the playoff game too.

I said that the QB was the biggest problem with 2 other things,so yes Rodgers was a major issue with us since like you said he could not take a hit for the good of the team because of his age!

All right. It's funny that under two different OCs, and two different OLs the only two Qbs getting rid of the ball that fast with us were both old men Qbs . Ben, and Rodgers. The other Qbs weren't doing that.

That doesn't mean they are "afraid to get hit" though... They get rid of it quicker because they have to. Both of them were excellent at extending the play in their prime and when they lost their athleticism had to pivot to getting rid of the ball quicker (or find their way out of the league). The reason why Russ isn't a starter anymore is because he couldn't do that (as his ability outside of the pocket is what made him good). Of course Kenny, Mason, and Trubisky held onto the ball longer... its because they suck lol

    LoL
I totally agree with the Mason/Trubisky/Kenny part, and I agree that Ben, and Rodgers football knowledge allows them to get rid of it that fast, but I do believe it's because they are afraid of hanging in the pocket because of getting hit, and I don't care what OL you have you are going to get hit, and if You can't extend the play, you must hang in the pocket to get certain plays off. As I've said before, Not many routes you can run against a defense in 2.46 seconds, and you are then hampering any schemes.
Example: I'll use Ben's 11-0 season the 1st year he came back. He was doing really well until he got cut in half, and after that it was all about getting rid of it quickly.

I don't think its fear though. Their mental clock is just different. They have to be smarter with the ball in order to not take sacks, not necessarily thinking "oh my god, I'm scared to get hit... so I have to throw every ball in 2 seconds". Both Rodgers and Ben have taken tons of big hits to get balls off in their career to have the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the "scared to get hit" thing imo... That's just my opinion though.

How fast was Flacco getting rid of the ball with the Bengals this season?

Look at Seattle's last 4 drafts and look at Pittsburgh's. That is the model to return to. Gotta hit more home runs in the draft.

Poor drafting really hurt the Steelers.

Made us go out and acquire guys through UFA because we'd missed so often.
