Rooney says he wants to contend, with Flacco? Your not going to contend with him or any of the available FA’s out there. We already have a backup in Mason, i think its better to just roll with MR and Howard and maybe a skylar thompson, week one, eventually get Howard some real playing time and set yourself up for 2027.

2026 should be used to improve the defense, o line and wide receiver positions.

Since Flacco spent 2 years as a backup at Pitt before baling for the Fighting Blue Hens of Delaware, there's something about the Steelers and former Pitt QBs - Corny Salvaterra, Ken Lucas, Alex Van Pelt, Rick Trocano, Pete Gonzales, Small Hands..........so why not Flacco? JK. :lolol:

Well he took a not so great tandem in Cleveland to the playoffs the year before wasn't it??
I actually don't want any of the 3, but if I had to pick, I'd take Flacco

I would rather draft any QB than get Flacco--Might as well let Mason start ...

Should of signed Flacco last year

That would have kept him from beating us

or if we had signed Darnold the Rams would be getting ready to play this Sunday…

The Steelers weren't going to give Darnold that much guaranteed money like he got from Seattle.

Flacco wasn't good with the Browns and got benched, he only looked decent with the Bengals because all he had to was throw it in the direction of Chase and Higgins.

If Tomlin still wanted the job he only had to say so.

I meant he would be encouraged to stick around after Darnold helped him get some playoff success.

its not out of optimism, i think he wanted to ride out his contract on high note - leaving in 26-27. I think his time was up no matter if he got his playoff run or not.

Darnold led the league in turnovers and Seattle has JSN at WR, you really think he would've been as good with the Steelers.

i think he wouldve done better than an over the hill AR. It would've been money much better spent.

I was definitely thinking he is trying to endear himself to Steelers fans.

But I think that ship sailed with Tomlin.
