I personally like this hire. I find a confluence of the WCO and Shanahan inside zone a good thing. It may end up being a disaster, but I willing to see how this confluence of philosophy works out.

A marriage of O’Connells schemes with McCarthy’s could be a real good offense.

Very disappointed in this one. I thought for sure Mike would be bringing in the next young Kellen Moore to groom as his OC.

Right now, It looks like the Ravens are just wiping the floor with us in building their staff. AS always, this may be a money thing.

Kellen Moore run a west coast style offense?

Kellen Moore was 30 years old when Mike McCarthy's promoted him to OC in Dallas, before going on to become a head coach.

Am I having memory loss? Did Tyler Shough run lot of west coast offense stuff? I don't remember seeing it when I saw him play.

Yawn. Another coach from all our yesterdays, how is it every single other team in the NFL mamages to find a way to hire bright, young, innovative coaches?

He was with the Steelers from 2006-10.

Keep in mind that Brian Angelichio will not be making any calls.

Calling plays is only a small part of the job. 80% of the work happens before Sunday. I am most interested in the offensive game-planning and what an innovative OC can bring to the table. If McCarthy gives him a voice, this could be a very good transition to a more dynamic offense.

Kevin O'Connell came from Sean McVay and Brian has been coaching with Kevin. That's the tree we want. Whether this particular hire is good I don't know. He wasn't high on any lists but an OC job without a QB or play calling responsibilities isn't all that glamorous.

Well hopefully he can convince McCarthy to get the ball to Freiermuth and actually throw the ball in the middle of the field unlike "Living in his Fears" Bags.

    It is a good hire.
Angelichio has yet to define his style, but he does come from a good line.

There was an issue with our offense actually game planning against defenses weakness.
To be even more honest, the offense was actually neglected.
It was like, "Just go out there and don't turn the ball over. We don't care if it is 3 and out, we will win on our defense and Boswell."

I'm of the mindset that you change out coordinators every so often anyway.
The exception would be if they can change up the offense/defense and keep it fresh.

It is very hard to get the exact staff you want right away.
It is also possible that a hire or two won't live up to expectations.

I’m thinking 6 points in a playoff game maybe propelled them to change course. Just spit balling here.

Yeah, that's gonna sting for a while, even more than the bazillion points the D had been giving up. The playoff offensive trajectory was not the least bit pretty:

    POINTS SCORED:
    2017: 42
    2020: 37
    2021: 21
    2023: 17
    2024: 14
    2025: 6

Baltimore has a first time HC and an OC who has never called plays before they aren't wiping the floor with nobody .

None of this matters if they don’t seriously upgrade the offenses skill positions.

Maybe the coffee pot was not working this morning, I get pretty cranky if there is no coffee.

It does seem like Rooney is allowing McCarthy to expand the coaching staff.
