Kaboly thinks this guy from the Vikings will be the OC.

J.J. isn't it. That isn't solely on Brian.

Probably the most important hire, other than DC, this has to be an A grade.
I mean, if something would happen where McCarthy can’t call the game, this guy has to be ready to perform.

Also, this OC would appear to be next HC too.

LOL, so we are looking at the guy that let Sam Darnold walk out the door, so they could play JJ McCarthy. :)

Yeah, let's get behind the Coach that made that decision.

It wasn't his decision the Vikings HC calls the plays.

Well it was an exciting moment while it lasted. We'll end up with some losing teams OC watch and see, it's the Steeler way.

But he was a real high draft pick.

    Doesn't matter.

Bryce Young was the Number One Overall Pick and he clearly isn't the future in Carolina. Tua was also a Top Five Pick. Hell, throw Justin Herbert in as well.

    That wasn't Brian's decision.

That was Former GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Head Coach Kevin O Connells call. I get why they did it but I would have held onto Darnold for another year. Remember that J.J. was coming off of a Season Ending Injury. He clearly was overwhelmed this season but even then, I still don't believe he is the answer.

Hell.... bring back Haley. I know Metcalf and Warren aren't as good as AB and Bell and the current O-line blows chunks, but he called mostly good plays and Steelers offense kicked ass.

Brian is listed as the Passing Game Coordinator for Minnesota. The Passing game.... Why wouldn't Brian be involved in a decision that involves your QB in the Passing game?

It's probably not the best option for "up and coming" OCs.

Going to a team that doesn't have good offensive pieces to be the OC under an offensive guru so the OC won't call plays isn't really a springboard to a HC position IMO.

He would possibly be asked his opinion, but decisions like that are above his pay grade. That is a GM/Head Coach decision with direct input from the OC But O'Connell is the OC.

Passing Game Coordinators don't decide the path of the franchise at the most important position in all of professional sports. They just give input if asked.

This article is quoting the same source, but goes one step further and claims the Steelers made an offer, but Tolziens "Declined" it. I wonder if this is at all true?

    https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/mike-mcc...-aaron-rodgers-former-teammate-for-oc-opening

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that a former teammate of Rodgers declined an offer to join the Steelers as offensive coordinator. “Quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien plans to remain with the New Orleans Saints after interviewing for the Steelers OC position,” Schultz shared on his social media platform.

You are speaking from a play calling perspective. I am speaking from a personnel decision. That aspect isn't apart of Brian's day to day.

He may have had input on it no doubt. However, would his input overrule the likes of Adofo-Mensah and/or KOC? Very doubtful.

If he is not calling the game day plays it may not be a good career move for him

Stay a year and maybe get a regular OC position and then HC opportunities open up

The OC position for the Steelers right now might be like the dead letter office

Would be really bad if hes making more as a passing game coordinator for the Saints than he would make as an OC with the Steelers.

Figured with the relationship between Tolzien and MM that the interview was more of a formality.

    Something went very wrong.

I think he liked the future of the Saints QB room over ours which is non-existent.

Let's imagine you and I are Passing Game Coordinators.

The hierarchy of personnel decisions would go something like this:

    There's the owner...

    There's the GM...

    There's the coach...

    There's the Offensive Coordinator...

    and then
