That Baltimore defense BLANKED the Giants in the Superbowl. Their lone score was a KO return IIRC. Dilfer literally just had to score more than zero and he would win lol

I have always loved pointing to the Trey Lance trade when someone is giving me a Hard Time about the Steelers taking Kenny Pickett in the 1st round. It could have been worse than giving up only your original 1st round pick on a bust at QB.

I don't know exactly how I would feel if the Steelers were to sign Trey Lance.

When Trey Lance played for McCarthy in Dallas, he became the first QB I know of that threw 5 Ints in a Preseason Game; let me repeat that, A PRESEASON GAME!!! :hehehe:

It's crazy to think he's still 25 and only 6 starts under his belt. I'd be interested if the price is right. Especially if Rodgers is coming back this year. You can be developing two guys behind him. Plus, Lance has been around long enough where you don't necessarily need to bring in a "vet".

Darnold (28) has had two great seasons (Vikings/Seahawks) and I am expecting him to be a franchise QB for Seahawks. Sadly, I think Patriots got another franchise QB. Maye is only 23.

Don't care if Darnold keeps kicking ass (NFC) but hope Maye does not keep improving. He has a great HC to keep things going in New England. I like Vrabel and 99% of the time I'm AFC all the way but I don't want the Pats organization to have 7 SB's. That #7 is waiting on the Steelers;)

    Right? :lolol:

I mean, at some point they have to start drafting quarterbacks. Some of the people that ***** about them not having a quarterback are the same people that I have argued with because they didn't want Jaxson Dart or Tyler Shough.

Imagine how much better fans would feel if they had drafted one of those guys and they had started down the path of developing a young, athletic quarterback. Everyone gets so obsessed with taking a quarterback in the top five picks of the draft that they dismiss any other quarterbacks that they don't consider elite.

The team needs to be aggressive and start drafting quarterbacks. I hope Howard has something, but they need to get another young talent in the room. They need to get multiple young quarterbacks in there and let them learn and compete under coaches that understand what they are looking at and can develop them.

Don't be surprised if they go QB, They were showing major interest in Ty Simpson at the Senior Bowl as per Steelers Insider Nick Ferabaugh.

But hey lets wait till 2027. Then it will be 2028. Each year you wait and the crop disappoints.

I'm not saying Simpson will be the pick but sooner then later you have to draft your next franchise QB.

I would trust in McCarthy to bring a QB in and develop him. And if Rodgers comes back then its like another coach.

It's great to stack missing pieces but the most important position is the QB. Its high time to consider it.

I don’t care if we had Tom Brady in his prime. He wasn’t winning any SB with the wide receiver and OL we had last year. Metcalf couldn’t do much being double coverage (and dropped passes) and our most oper receiver was Friermouth, who is average nfl receiving tight end at best. We need receivers. Any fresh top talent is destined to fail with current set of tools.

No thanks on Ty Simpson, he is listed at 6'2" 208, he isnt big enough to be an NFL QB and I see lots of injuries headed his way.

A lot of people point to how Green Bay did it, and yet it got them no more SB then how we did it.

And? Do you think a teams chances improve at winning a SB with or without a franchise QB?

GB hasnt missed a beat when it comes to the QB position. I dont put Love on Favre and Rodgers level but hes not Mason Rudolph/Kenny Pickett/Duck Hodges/Russel Wilson/Justin Fields either.

I’ll take GBs way over anyone elses.

Yet are we talking SBs , or just winning games? Because with Farve, Rodgers, and Love added together they have the exact same SBs as we have with Ben. Went to 3 won 2. So I don't see how they were better than how we did it.
Also either Love is not very good, or their HC isn't. Since Rodgers has left GB, they have one playoff win, and one season of over 9 wins.

This statement makes no damn sense whatsoever. I guess Mahomes was a "no name" QB in 2019 since he hadn't won a Super Bowl yet.

Darnold has been winning a sh!tload of games with different teams. Maye is in the same boat as Roethlisberger was in 2005. He could become the youngest QB to ever win a Super Bowl. Hardly no name considering Maye was a first round draft pick and is expected to be franchise QB for Patriots.

So you just avoided the whole question :lolol:

You’re talking SB’s, Im talking finding franchise QBs without going years in between.

And GB won a SB going from Favre to Rodgers so that worked. Remains to be seen about Love. That they have the same amount of SBs as the Steelers is irrelevant.

I thought it was all about SBs. My bad.
I thought that was the whole reason to move on from what we had going on.

He's not particularly small. Lots of QB's are 6'2''. I'm sure any team that drafts him can put 10lbs on him and he'd basically be the average NFL QB size.

Is there any other any other reasons you dislike him aside from being one inch and 10lbs smaller than the average NFL QB?

I agree with you. Darnold isn't necessarily a no-name. His resurgence in the league has been a really cool story. And Maye isn't a no name either. He's a young player in his second year coming off a season that likely puts him second in voting for MVP of the entire league. He could very well become a household name very shortly. He was also the 3rd overall pick in a draft where 6 QB's were taken in the top 12.

Even though I could care less who wins, doesn't mean that the game doesn't have interest because it isn't Allen vs. Stafford.

My only problem with Simpson is his lack of experience. He sat on the bench for 3 years behind Bryce Young and then Jalen Milroe before getting his first start this past season. With only 15 career starts he is really green to go play in the NFL.

How many SB’s did we win trying to placate Ben instead of preparing for his exit?

Sure would have been nice to have a QB lined up after he left though. Which is what this conversation is actually about. No one has done that better than the Packs.

And yet they still have the exact amount of SBs.
If they had more with their 3 different Qbs during that time I would agree, but they don't. So I fail to see why it's been better.

    I know what you're saying.

The one thing I will say in defense of Tomlin and the front office is that Ben seemed like he had a lot of years left until the horrible elbow injury. That was a bad break that put the team on a different schedule and had them scrambling when they thought Ben probably had at least three more really good years.

You don't want to draft a quarterback too soon and then lose them after their rookie contract in free agency. At that point the team has to decide to either release a star quarterback that is still balling, or use the franchise tag to keep the rights for another season. Even then, they still don't know that the backup can fill those shoes. Timing is always the hardest thing to pull off and much of that is luck.

Like Haley said, it’s not easy to do when you have a guy like Ben but that didnt stop GB from taking Love when Arod was still playing at a high level.

Ben threw a hissy fit when we drafted Mason and that was in the 3rd. Could your imagine his reaction if they took a QB in the first.
