WOW, i just ran across this article and Season 2 has already been renewed, and they are planning on 12 - 15 seasons. That is very ambitious, as I found the short stories to really not have any secondary characters that could spin off into their own story path. You followed along with Dunk and Egg the entire time.

New Game of Thrones spinoff’s ambitious 12-15 season plan revealed by showrunner

Parker acknowledges that more source material is needed for his plan, but he previously revealed that Martin shared 12 unpublished Dunk and Egg stories with him. He explained that "These stories take them all the way through their lives. Some of these are just a paragraph, but they give you a sense of where they’re going to go and the people who come back in and out of the story."

I really never forgave House of the Dragon when they recast Rhaenyra Targaryen. And then I found out that the Milly Alcock was actually 21 when she played the 14 year old. Not sure why they couldn't have just had her stick around to play the older 24 year old version of herself???

Even a few seasons seems very ambitious. That's crazy

Yeah. What? Do they plan to run it until the Tragedy at Summerhall and the birth of Rhaegar?

Hell, why stop there? Just go into Robert's rebellion from there...

And then redo Game of Thrones and get it right. Maybe we'll at least have book 6 by then. Emilia Clark might be old enough to stunt cast as Ollena Tyrell.

Dude, I don't think we will ever get another book from that. I used to say, be patient, we will, but that was years ago.

I love Egg but he'll be an adult if show runs that long.

Egg is the grandfather of Aerys II.... aka the Mad King. Would love to see how the young Jamie Lannister becomes the "King Slayer" in live action. I doubt House of the Dragon or Knight of 7 Kingdoms will go that far.

LoL. I hope they have shown that in the show for people watching, or you are spoiling it for some.

There's plenty of references to the Mad King in 8 seasons of Game of Thrones. He was father of Daenerys and murdered by Jamie Lannister... so naturally, he was discussed frequently. Aerys II is definitely the most discussed character in GOT who never made any appearances. I thought they would do flashbacks like they did with Lyana Stark, mother of Jon Snow... but it never happened.

That's not the spoiler he meant.

Some don't know who "Egg" actually is.

I mean, we've said it numerous times before the show started. But they might have glossed over the early discussions.

IIRC, old man Maester Aemon serving on the Night Watch talked about his brother Egg... referred to him as a "jolly fellow." Think it was season 5.

I know all of the stuff, but I have read the books, but I'm sure some of the people that are watching have no clue , because it doesn't stand out to the casual fans like the ones that are invested. Like myself who did a song about the Greyjoys

Agreed, but the casual fan doesn't register that. We know, but I would bet many didn't either remember that, or notice

I never read the books and I'm an avid reader. Sci Fi not for me when it comes to reading a novel. I did enjoy G.O.T., watched all episodes 2-3 times. Didn't get into House of the Dragon but I see they have more seasons upcoming so I'll probably give it another chance.

Now, I'm digging A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. I dig Egg. Episode 4 was pretty good.

Question: Is a Hedge Knight a lesser Knight?? Why the name Hedge? Dunk is a Knight but not of royal birth I assume.

Knight of 7 is set 100 years before G.O.T. while House of Dragon is like a thousand years before I believe. does the TV series follow the books?

1st it's fantasy not sci-fi, I guess anything that is fiction could be placed into these categories.
None of the series I've watched so far has strictly followed the book, and many of the shows have totally changed what actually has happened.
Now I haven't watched any of the new series yet, I'm DVRing them, and will watch when the season is over.
Hell my song No Love 4 the Greyjoys(Iron Born) was because the GOT series left out so much about the Greyjoys that a friend of mine would joke every week, and he would say...No Love 4 the Greyjoys again this week.
So I wrote the Lyrics over music they had already inspired in me , straight from the books.
If You watch the video, when I start singing, I put the lyrics in the badly computerized pictures. LoL

Yeah. Regular knights serve a noble house or lord whereas hedge knights are sort of drifters who serve no master. They are usually homeless and looked down on. I think they are called hedge knights because they have to sleep in shrubs and hedges.
