Not surprising considering the inconsistencies in our run defense

This team values comfort and familiarity way too highly, and results and production not nearly enough.

Yep. The wild swings from week to week made it feel like something on the coaching side was missing. Plus Benton and Black really didn't progress well.

There are still a lot of cans of sauerkraut in that cupboard

It may have something to do with when contracts run out

I agree, I don’t want Rodgers back and I don’t think he is coming back. I think he courts the Vikes or retires.

I respected him for one reason, we share the same autoimmune disease. Mine is a hell of a lot harder to notice. 1% of worlds population has it and of that 1%, a tenth are white people. I'm special;)

Benton had a pretty solid season.

In 2025, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Keeanu Benton had a breakout third season, recording 51 tackles (25 solo), 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and a pass defense over 17 games. He significantly increased his production from his first two seasons, establishing himself as a key pass-rushing threat on the defensive line.

    Black was a rook.

In his 2025 rookie season, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Yahya Black (drafted in the 5th round, 164th overall) recorded 28 total tackles (10 solo, 7 assisted) and 2 forced fumbles. He also registered 15 stops, 7 total pressures, 6 hurries, and 1 hit while appearing as an interior defensive lineman.

Harmon unfortunately missed some time being injured.

In the 2025 NFL regular season, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Derrick Harmon recorded 27 total tackles (11 solo), 3.0 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery. He added 6 total tackles and 1.0 sack in the postseason. Harmon was recognized as a key rookie contributor for the Steelers defense during the 2025 season.

No one is talking about our 36 year old DT. He was a part of the run defense struggling as well who will be 37 when the season starts. Maybe he will cry and hold in or out for more money...

n the 2025 NFL regular season, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward recorded 38 solo tackles, 40 assists (78 total tackles), 3.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble over 17 games. He continued to be a staple on the defensive line, contributing to his 15th season with the team.

They need a fresh approach, a new voice. They are all responsible for the lack luster run defense.

Run defense had more to do with lack of talent IMO.

They had a couple of guys on the line that could do it, but if they were out, they couldn't stop anyone.

There have been a lot of DL draft picks in the last 3-5 drafts. Outside of rookie year success, none of them have paid off Cam and Tuitt level. Maybe it's just time for a new eye?

Cam didn't become a starter until his 3rd year.

If Harmon, Sawyer, and Black can make progress in their sophomore seasons, that will help a lot.

I feel good about Harmon being at least an above average starter. Not sure about the other young guys getting there though.

Heyward level is a high standard to expect, but it sure would be great if we could develop an equivalent replacement.
