Billy B...not 1st Ballot HoF. Will Ben also get screwed over?

Despite being widely considered far and away the best HC in the UFA / cap era of the NFL, Billy B didn't get into the HoF as a 1st Ballot guy.

In this video, the argument is that Bill Polian argued that he should have to wait a year because of (1) deflate gate and (2) spy gate.

If that's the case, will they also make Brady wait? I strongly doubt it.

While I'd bet many Steelers fans might not be upset about this (I'd imagine that we all hate the Pats of that era), I have always thought that Ben will get screwed on 1st ballot status when he becomes eligible.

If they keep BB out for this, I think it's going to be very easy for Peter King (who voted against Troy getting in to the Hall) to say "I think we should make him wait because of the SA allegations".

I think Ben deserves to get in on the 1st ballot. But I don't think he will after a decision like this.

New rumor is that Kraft is involved in the conspiracy.

I don't think this will carry any weight with what happens with Ben.

Btw,Peter King retired a few years ago, so he is no longer involved in the voting process....But I don't expect Ben to be a first ballot HOF now

Ben is eligible next year. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets snubbed. There's a negative bias towards Steelers for having so many players already in the HOF.

Hell... I think Hines Ward and James Harrison belong in the HOF, but they probably won't get in.

That's good to know. I guess you can tell how much I follow MSM type talking heads.

On some level, I respected that he was transparent about his HoF voting. But not voting for Troy should have been an automatic boot off the selection committee.

Hines is one of my favorite players of all time. But I don't think he deserves to be in the Hall (which I'm fine with).

I do think Harrison has a decent argument because he was legit the best at his position for a good stretch of time. I think he gets in eventually, but he certainly gets hurt for having a generally short career.

It's a shame that AB could possibly get in and Hines Ward does not. Yes... AB was better than Ward, but Ward was all about the team, not himself.

At this point, I don't think AB will get in either. Although I think his on-field accomplishments should probably be enough.

Part of the problem with Ward is the explosion of WR production that happened since he retired. So the backlog of other borderline guys will keep building up. And on paper, they'll all look a ton better than Ward does.

So much of the value that Ward brought to the team wasn't "on paper" though. Just like other guys from that era (e.g., Big Snack, Heath, A Smith, etc).

Ben isn't a 1st ballot hall of famer in my eyes

Ward should be in the HOF. I know a lot of his work doesn't show up on paper, but the HOF committee knows that and they know him. He should be in

That pure-evil selection committee needs to be replaced. We can't have that.

The entire selection process needs to be abolished. You let the owners and players vote on who gets into the HOF. Not the King and Dulac's of the world.

All I can say is if Belichick doesn't deserve it, who does???
Also if they condemn Belichick, then in a fairness they must condemn T. Brady, and Kraft . No freaking way they didn't know anything.
    I think it's a travesty.

I thought the same , but it is a fair Question now. Although like I said , if You can hold Belichick back, you can hold anyone back, and if they are holding Belichick back for what I think, then Tom Brady, and Kraft needs to be held back too. They knew.

I completely agree both deserve to be in.

Harrison was a monster for a 4-5 year stretch. His biggest issue is he didn’t have great performances outside that window. Outside of that window, his annual performances were 6 sacks or less per season.

Ward will be a victim of numbers. There are still some big name WRswaiting to get in, including Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne, Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Smith Sr, Chad Johnson, and some older names yet. I believe Fitzgerald might be a finalist this year and will probably get in.

Chad Johnson???? Hines definitely deserves to be in. Besides all his receptions, he's a SB MVP. How many years did the great Lynn Swann have to wait?

How does this comeback to Ben?
Did Ben cheat too? How does the OP think this affects Ben?

Unless, they are considering it the "woman" thing.

    Bill younger girlfriend way younger
    Brady dumpin 1st baby momma
Kraft and his masseuse. I think they were female.
    So what is it?
    Ben's victims?

I will tell you exactly why this happened, because nominated 'Contributor' Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots, can't stand Belichick and likely didn't want to be on the stage or inducted at the same time. Kraft's buddy Polian likely did him a solid with that video. He is perfectly fine letting Belichick go in next year.

This was a Canton style 'Red Wedding' with the 'Rains of Castamere' playing in the background.

There has to be a better process, but I wouldn't trust letting the owners solely decide who is in the Hall of Fame.
