How many of those last 3 SBs we made do you think we would have made if we faced the Pat every time in the playoffs those years??

Demarvius Thomas. 4/7 for 204 yards
other 6 receivers 6/14 for 112 yards

Out of the defensive starters from the start of the season, only 4 were fully healthy for that Denver game.
Most importantly for the starting safeties, one was out (Clark) and the other had a calf injury which limited his speed (Polomalu). That left them vulnerable to a deep ProBowl-level WR in that game.
The Steelers offense was missing the starting RB (Mendenhall), and Ben was still hobbling on a bad ankle for several weeks.

You are misleading when saying that Tebow beat the Steelers. That makes it sound like the team was performing at a normal level, instead of limping into the playoffs.

 

And if the genius offensive minded HC of the Broncos would kick a field goal the Patriots may have not beat a Qb that hadn't played in 3 years, and had only won one game in his entire career. So???
But hey another genius offensive HC loses because they are do genius they can't kick a field goal. That two Genius that lost in the playoffs because they wouldn't kick a field goal this year

 

Do you really think the Patriots couldn't have beaten the Steelers if they faced them in the playoffs?

I have no idea how many of those years the Steelers would have made the Super Bowl. I suspect at least the '08 team would have beaten them, but I don't know and neither do you.

Winner, and why was that, because head to head we had trouble with them. Everyone knows head to head matter, and who you face matters. Nobody makes it to the SB without a bit of luck. Nobody

 

2005 Steelers team was on a roll in the playoffs. 05 Patriots lost to the Broncos... Patriots weren't very good by the end of '05. Could see Steelers beating Patriots if they had to play them that year. 2010 was definitely the Jets doing the heavy lifting for Steelers. No way Steelers make it to Super Bowl if they had to go to Foxboro for AFC Championship.

 

Nobody know for sure but you can only beat the team in front of you...This is the goal.

 

So head to head matters.
It doesn't hurt you to admit it. Just because Vrabel made it to the SB doesn't mean head to head doesn't matter.
We went to the SB 3 times from 2005 to 2010, and yet because we couldn't beat the Pats nobody on here will say that had we not faced the Pat in the playoffs we would have made them.
Why???? Because head to head matters. Styles make the fights. That's why we can usually beat a Ravens team that destroys most other teams. It about who You face, and a lot of luck.

 

Not much in the regular season since some teams don't always face each other every year...I mean, Vrabel and Tomlin only faced each other 4 times in 7 years when they were both head coaches

And I don't understand why you're changing your criteria now that Vrabel is in the Super Bowl... Before this year, you said the only important thing in the playoffs was winning your conference(winning playoffs game was not much important for you without a super bowl berth), and then winning the Super Bowl was the ultimate goal... But now that Vrabel is in the Super Bowl, you're adding criteria you never mentioned before... It's weird.

You ask too much the perfection from the other coaches for some reason.

 

I'm not that impressed by this Mickey Mouse SB run we know if Nix played the Patriots would've lost .

Why must you always move the goal post. We are talking head to head, and instead of admitting it actually matters, you go off on a tangent.
I can show many many many times teams would not have made the SB if they had faced a different team in the playoffs. That is what make Josh Allen's failure this year so big, because none of those teams were left, and then he played his worst playoff game ever. LoL.

Head-to-head may be a factor in a specific game, but it isn't nearly as important in evaluating a coach as overall success.

 

They beat Houston who had a 10 team winning streak.They were not a mickey mouse team....The Eagles in 2022 had a much easier run to the Super Bowl against a weak Giants team and a team that played without a quarterback for half the game like the 49ers.

 

You are talking head-to-head, but that doesn't mean anybody here has to accept your premise.

 

Then why do people do it when it fits their narrative? I've seen you, and everyone on here do it, but when I use it, it somehow doesn't matter .

I didn't say it doesn't matter at all. It is a nice tiebreaker if you are evaluating coaches with similar resumes.

 

Even if you post tweets from people who only have 500 followers, 10 millions other times, it doesn't change the fact that Vrabel did a great coaching job and they beat a team that had a 10-game winning streak like Houston, a team that had outplayed the Steelers by 250 yards the week before.
