Pavia should switch to RB at that size.

What's the 411 on QB Garrett Nussmeier.
Should I assume Garrett probably already knows McCarthy's playbook front to back, because of his Dad?

His Dad coached with Mike McCarthy.
    https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/steelers-coach-mike-mccarthy-quiet-130000636.html
During McCarthy’s tenure in Dallas from 2020-22, Doug Nussmeier served as the Cowboys’ quarterbacks coach. Nussmeier, of course, is the father of LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.

Is this someone to put on your radar for Day 2?

Potentially... He has some upside but some serious limitations too. He's a hard prospect to figure out. Ball pops out of the delivery, he throws from multiple arm angles, good throwing on the move, willing to take a hit and throw it, and is generally praised for his leadership. However, he has a smaller frame, took a beating in college, is inconsistent with his reads/progressions, and is too easily fooled by disguised coverages.

He has some good tools, but is a bit of a project. He feels like a similar style of player to Ty Simpson, but isn't as developed pre or post snap in his reads/decision making. He will fit in with an offense that has a lot of RPO's and quick throws, though could develop into a bit more. He feels like a Shanahan type QB tbh.

At this time last season, I would have been enthused at the prospect of getting Nussmeier. He had a tough Fall. It wasn’t pretty.

Pavia is still my #1 QB in the draft.
Roster does not look too good overall. I like the Penn State guys. Appreciate the measurements.

Because he is similar to Caleb and Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix. He is efficient and carries the offense, throwing and running, not through a system but by his physical ability.
There are two more quarterbacks I like, Chambliss and Fagnano. Fagnano is older than Pavia and Chambliss is not as potent offensively and comes from a weird offense, there is some system production there. That's why I have those two graded lower, day 2/3 for now. I may have Fagnano ahead of Pavia come draft day, but right now Pavia is the only day 1 QB for me.
I am not concerned about his height. Russ was just fine, and Murray's height is not at the core of his issues.

With those offical numbers ( college heights and weights are often BS ) he better have a good week.

I have heard some guys are told to drink a 1/2 gallon of water before getting on line to weigh in. This will add about add about 5 pounds to their weight by agents.

As a UCONN alum who has seen nearly every one of Fagnano’s home games in person, I am rooting hard for him to succeed. However I’m not seeing an NFL franchise QB there. To me his upside is a Taylor Heinicke type of backup QB. His arm is not up to NFL starting QB standards. He wins with anticipation, timing and, frankly, playing vs. a number of bad defenses this past Fall. He is smart and makes good decisions with the ball, but an NFL QB needs to have those mental qualities and a good enough arm. One of the biggest UCONN wins in recent years was the home upset of Duke this season, and there was a clear difference in how the ball came out of Duke QB Mensah’s hand vs. Fagnano’s in person. Also, Fagnano was a one year wonder. Before this past season he was very hit or miss week to week and had even lost his starting job to Nick Evers.

I hope he proves me wrong, but I doubt it highly. Great college QB for 1 season, but likely a borderline backup at best if he even makes an NFL roster.

I don't see it with him being 5'9.

Nix, Daniels, and Williams all are at least 6'1 and were first round worthy, Pavia not so much.

I'd sign Fagnano to start in the NFL. I think arm is a combination of velocity and accuracy. I've seen him fit the ball between defenders 30 yards down the field, more than once, throwing very accurate passes, adjusting his throws from low to high. He processes well, rotating his body from right to left. He throws well rolling right. Can throw angle throws. All from the pocket, and often with pocket collapsing. He scoots. All around excellent quarterback, a starter in the NFL imo.
I don't think that UCONN team is loaded with talent. They had Skyler Bell, but I don't think he is that big of a difference maker.
Rare quarterback. There are very few quarterbacks with those skills in this class.
In this class Klubnik in 2024 is comparable. Chambliss and Pavia are shorter so their target throws windows high, not as large as Fagnano.
Ward last year, and Howard, but Howard like Mendoza this year was a low volume passer and Fagnano plays at higher volume.
Before that you can compare him to Nix, Daniels, Caleb. I think he is a rare talent.
Then again. I see Mason Rudolph as a rare talent too.

i mean drafted late and sitting on the bench until needed. he may make a very good depth guy to have sitting there. his height didn't bother him in college. he's got some IT about him.

I don't see him as much of a Caleb or Jayden. He simply doesn't have the arm talent those guys have. The ball explodes out of their hands and they're both superior athletes to Pavia. They're both significantly better in and out of phase. I personally don't think he has upside anywhere near those two, but obviously, what do I know lol he's got a nice deep ball even with a marginal arm by NFL standards.

He's a pretty good runner... His game is a lot like Johnny Manziel (and he's every bit the arrogant prick that Johnny was back in the day), he's just shorter than Johnny and maybe a little bit more limited in his arm talent. I care less about his height too, but under 5'10'' is a tough ask. He doesn't have the tools that Bryce Young has that made people overlook that. Same with Kyler.

I'd imagine that if we were Pavia fans as an organization we'd have a pretty good chance at landing him with any of our 4th round picks. He's going to be a volatile prospect. Some teams will have him written off their board completely due to character concerns. Some will have him written off completely due to his height. He's an exciting college player that will be an interesting case study for whether or not a guy like him can make it in the NFL. Even if he does work and entire offense will have to be built around his limitations. I find it hard to believe a team would be willing to invest in him like that, but if he gets taken by a team and he impresses enough in camp/preseason I could see them trying it.

I don't know much about Fagnano, but I do like a lot about Chambliss. Better athlete than Pavia, better arm, and a high character leader. He will probably get taken a good bit before Pavia, so you'll have to invest more in him, but I can see the allure of him. He reminds me a ton of Russell Wilson coming out of school. He's taller than Russ, so I could see him getting a bit more love than Russ did coming out, even if he's a bit less refined under center.
