Odds are that they would have to turn one out at some point in time. Not saying this is the time.. just saying.

Stroud's turnovers had less to do with him and more to do with our defense..... Stroud didn't have miscues... those balls were taken

No it didn’t, he was fumbling the ball on the snaps. And a horrible throw with very little pressure in the red zone.

Well until he is given a chance, he is a "possible", franchise QB. With a 21st century play caller, who knows. I would like to see what he's got.

There’s only one QB in the 2026 draft that don’t have a big question mark next to his name and he will be long gone before we get the chance to pick. If the coaches like the tools he has then give Howard a chance. He had the opportunity to sit behind a HOF’er for one year and soak in some knowledge. He seems like the type that didn’t take that lightly.

If McCarthy is really comfortable with Mason Rudolph and Will Howard he should be fired by midnight. Who in thier right mind would be comfortable with that duo? I’m not saying I wouldn’t try Will Howard and sink or swim so we know where to go in 27 but how the F could you feel good about that room?

Howard hype is real. no one in upcoming draft is better the he is, if we draft a QB they will not be ahead of him on the depth chart. I say draft a receiver and other positions early and go with Howard next year

The only negative thing I’ve read in here on Howard is the round he was selected.

You can pick QBs in the first round like Kenny Pickett. How’d that work out?

I won’t even mention a certain QB that just made the Pro Bowl.

And these are “experts” on QBs.

Well, some people might like Howard's developmental potential. Statistically, he's really not much off of Mendoza as a prospect with each coming off a Natty... I don't necessarily consider Mendoza or Simpson far and away better prospects than Howard. Rudolph just is what he is. Reasonable, cheap, back up. He's got a ton of value as your 2nd/3rd QB and that's about it. He's proven he can come in to a short stint as a starter and not look like total @$$.

What do you expect him to say though? He just inherited a roster of guys, its not like he's going to start crapping on his QB's haha I believe him when he says he likes Howard's potential... He is comfortable under center and can be really good in phase. He doesn't have huge upside out of phase, but he's athletic enough to take off and hurt you with his legs just badly enough. He's actually quite a similar player to Dak Prescott coming out of school (with even a bit more polish because of his time at OSU) though Prescott was used as a runner much more extensively in college (he isn't a runner at the NFL level and neither will Howard be). I could totally see it if McCarthy sees a young QB with the capabilites of Dak. Now he just needs to put some freaking weapons on that offense to help this thing go.

Will Howard was a 6th round draft pick for a reason. He is inconsistent with his accuracy in the passing game and doesn’t have an elite arm. Now with the right coaching and system surrounded by talent could he improve his passing I suppose. The kid hasn’t even played a pre season NFL snap the odds are much higher he is a career backup than legit starter. All that being said I’m all for trying him and seeing what they have. If he’s terrible you likely win 4/5 games in 2026 and draft a QB in 2027 rd 1. We all know what Mason is at this point which isn’t anything more than a spot starter and I want no parts of a washed up Vet scratching and clawing for 9 wins.

Sure their are Diamonds in the rough that can slip through. Brady was a 6th rd pick Purdy was mr irrelevant. However for every one of those stories there are hundreds that never see a second contract when being picked that late. Odds are certainly against it but I’m happy to see what the kid got!

I need to go watch some Howard highlights again to refresh my memory. I`m happy for the new changes and thankful for all that Coach Tomlin has done. I think T sits back and waits for Cowboys job to open up. Young Will Howard vs. an aging Dak Prescott and Tomlin in the SB ! LOL

His shortcomings are pretty well documented on various sites. You won't read much negative here because there appears to be a lot of Buckeye fans drowning out those comments.

    One site suggests promise:

"That disastrous combine showing with late throws and overthrows will ding his stock some, but there's still meat left on the bone with his development, and that's what makes him such an intriguing day-two prospect. Give me a quarterback room with an established vet and a patient offensive staff, and I'll show you Howard's ideal landing spot....the age factor means you need to see results within three years, but Howard's tape shows a quarterback who can make serious strides when the lightbulb clicks.

Well all people really have to go on is what he did in college. He was a good player college. Fields was a much better prospect coming out of OSU than Howard was so I think people are right to be skeptical. Also too me its never a great sign when the major selling points on a guy are he is a smart kid and learns quickly. Not that those are bad qualities but i would prefer to hear about arm strength, pocket presence, play making ability. So too me its not what they are praising him for, its what they arent praising him for that has me skeptical.

When I have a little time I am going to compile a list of 1st round QB busts of recent years. Drafting a QB in the first round guarantees nothing. Anthony Richardson of late is right there with Kenny Pickett.

Sure there are busts all the time but look no further than your Pittsburgh Steelers. We have 6 Lombardis because of two first rd QBs. We need a reset and a high pick in 2027.

Will was brought in as a project mainly he needed mental work and has been with 1 of the best with AR ...I hope AR will come back and continue to teach him how to read Defenses and how to slide protections and how to get into the best play at the line like Brady was talking about ..Some Teams just call 1 play some Teams have 2 ,Teams with great QB'S have 4 or 5 they can audible into..

I contend that Tomlin and our OC held AR back he looked much better in no huddle , I think our new Coach would trust AR with the playbook and he can still out smart Defenses and teach Will the same thing ..

Brady was also talking about bringing the WR into the backfield and he is almost always matched on a LB in cover 2 and is the primary target .. Did we ever use this tactic ? Heck did we even have a WR that can beat a LB ? We need a young fast create space WR Carnell Tate and Denzel Boston would be my targets if we only got these 2 and nothing else I think we could contend...

Both these guys are precise route runnners , both have great hands , both know where to be against zone defenses and are known for intermediate excellence and are true weapons in the middle of the field ..Dang can you imagine us Actually attacking Defenses where they are weak beacuse we finally got over our fears..lol
