Likely didn’t take 3 steps (glad we got that call)

Buffalo WR didn’t control the ball.

People said if a WR dropped a ball and didn’t survive the ground they would rule incomplete.

Seattle WR didn’t control the ball and survive the ground and the refs acted like it wasn’t even reviewable.

Its like the refs told McVay not to waste a challenge because Vegas made the call.

Pretty much depends on which team is playing offense. Different rules for specific logos.

This is why having such lawyer-y rules in the NFL is bad for the league IMO.

Not that it's hurting them I guess...

This is why explanations for some of these calls by the refs don’t work on me.

The point most are making is the NFL is inconsistent and a bit shady when it comes to calls.

Ruling that a catch and telling McVay not to waste time challenging it is another example if the NFL blatantly cheating.

Jesse James should’ve been a TD. DJ’s pass in the endzone vs Cincy was a TD. Bryants catch vs GB was a TD.

Make it make cents.. I mean, dollars. lol

JJ call was correct for the rules at the time. Which were simple and made sense. The league went to these rules because the previous "football move" rules were insanely complex and no one understood them.

The league over-reacted to an edge-case call (JJ play) and we again went back to rules that make no sense (and are stupid).

The taunting call here was also really stupid (player was really dumb as well).

On the last play, I also don't really get what counts as being OOB. I'd have had the play stopped there. Maybe just because I wanted the game to be more exciting.

I think the rule should be that you have to maintain possession through the ground. But that's not the rule. It's that you have to take two steps and make a football move (which I think can be another step, but doesn't have to be). Here, he gets 2 steps and then reaches the ball out. This is exactly the kind of play they changed the rule for because of the JJ play.

    Re: Making it make sense.

It's stupid, but this is a catch in today's NFL. He gets two feet down. Then reaching out for the 1st down is a "football move". It says it specifically in the rule book.

    So he's down by contact.

This is the actual thing that people were saying the Bills play was. Because reaching the ball out is the 3rd element of the catch.

Under a sensible rule set (have to keep possession when you go to the ground), this isn't a catch.

But under the overly complex lawyer-y rules, it is.

For anyone who hates the JJ call, it's a catch under the current rule book.
