Wont be Kingsbury, McCarthy calls the plays. He has only ever given up play calling once and he said he will never do that again.

I think it will be guys people arent familiar with, people he has personal connections to.

That 1 season in GB, can't recall the OC at the time but he was messing up and McCarthy took over and basically righted the ship.
That was a good breaking point.
But I don't think that's the path he is going down, at least that's what is being said.
Kingsbury is just a name I tossed out.... I'm not sure they even like each other.
I'm as anxious as anyone to see which road we go.. he will need a strong DC so there is that.

Yep, Steelers country club, everything has to fit with Art not feeling "uncomfortable" with anything (poor Art he's a sensitive flower), and making sure we can win 9 games (The Wilpon's who once owned the Mets, known in NY as The Coupons, had a phrase "Meangful games in September" which is basically Flanders approach) to sell tickets throghout the season, and as we know MM, Kham and Wiedl all pissed in the same pot in NO, so I'd be surprised if the assistant coaching hires aren't already in the their inner circles.

    And obviously - cheap.

    i guess we will see

    Tomlin could not win

we will see if MM can, I want to see us DEVELOP a Franchise QB again, MT could not do it

there is good young talent on D - get a REAL DC and run this think, not a pawn like Austin running Tomlin's 20 year old TIRED schemes

Which if people really did any check on history. The climate has changed many times throughout history, even without any so called help.

A promotion, yes… Better on the resume? Doubt it. He doesn’t need it to get hired imo. Why risk going to a worse HC with a worse offense and worse QB to still not call plays?

Andy Reid has had 3 offensive coordinators since 2013. Nagy on two occasions, Bienemy now on two occasions and Doug Pederson. Pederson had decent success as HC for a short stint, but Nagy didn’t and Bienemy has never gotten hired. He’s not really attracting the best talent the league has to offer…

    Good Idea
That could be a way, which I didn't think of, but it has lured coaches before.

Maybe… but you have a longer leash with the new HC. I don’t think you hire someone like McCarthy for a rebuild. Idk.

I get that it’s no use to speculate, but there’s really no reason to have much optimism for these hires. It wouldn’t make a lot of sense for young aspiring coordinators to come here and coach for an uninspiring HC and unclear QB situation. It’s just a realistic observation.

McCarthy better coach the hell out of Howard (or whoever we draft if we take a QB). If he doesn’t, this could end up being the worst single decision in franchise history. It either yields us a QB or cements us as a cellar dweller for a while. I don’t see a lot of inbetween possibilities.

If LaFleur stays with the Rams Scheelhaase would be the third guy still on offense, a promotion to OC is more money and a chance for McCarthy to groom him to be the next HC.

    Now that's a staff!
Gruden is starving to get back in the league and love him or hate him, he's good. I believe Patricia wants back in and we already know what Munchak can do. They would come at a financial cost and some criticism on Gruden.

A deal to be “groomed” into the next HC would likely be the only clause that would get someone like him here. Five years is a long time to wait though, when it’s likely that he will get a HC gig on his own accord well before then…

I’ve been around tons of people in business who have turned down titles and money to stay somewhere because it wasn’t the right opportunity. I think this is the case here. If Scheelhaase wants to be an OC, then fine. Take the money and the promotion if that is your ambition…. But if he wants to be a HC, he should stay on as McVey’s PGC. Heck, Mike LaFleur could get a HC gig and he could be promoted to Rams OC… which is probably the most coveted OC position in the sport.

I would love to see someone like Scheelhaase here as OC… but I’m also not deluded enough to think it’s a likely reality. I hate that this is the way it is, but it is… right now, my “realistic” wish list for a young OC would be Scott Tolzein from New Orleans. He’s the QB coach for Shough and coached for Kellen Moore, who is a McCarthy tree guy…

This would be a massively best case scenario for “old head” coordinators. Not sure we’d get Munchak back, but Gruden as OC wouldn’t be bad as he can assist in the development of the QB. Patricia would be good too, as he was a quality DC for OSU and the Pats (even if he wasn’t a good HC). It’s somewhat realistic too. McCarthy likes his failed HC’s at DC.

I’m starting to warm to the idea of someone young to help develop a young QB at OC though. Scott Tolzein might be my #1 option in that light (at least the only realistic option that we might be able to get here).

Expecting the “Al’s”… Van pelt & Harris as coordinators

While Alex Van Pelt hasn’t been a star play caller as an OC, he won’t have to cal plays with McCarthy there. He can game plan and coach up QBs

Al Harris is an up and comer who’s darn good with DBs, and has good experience in the 34 defense. He’ll need experienced LB coach and DL coach to complement him since he, himself was a (pro bowl)DB in the league.

Anthony Weaver. I’ve been focusing on Scheelhaase, he had a good interview but Weaver really knocked it out of the park, oozes leadership according to reports about his interview. That could be the guy they bring in that takes over for Mike.

Heck, I'd accept Gruden even as just a QB coach - assuming Gruden would even want to work in such a capacity, which he might not
And then there are the ongoing lawsuits with the league. Of course, it's also not a given that AR2 would even hire a QB coach at all, seeing as how he's been known to be too cheap to bother.

well the mccarthy hire gives them a twofer in a qb coach and head coach. i think they may hire one though. ken anderson was here for ben under dan though but i do believe ben was extremely hard to work with.
