I wasn't happy with the hiring, but what done is done
He does have a better record in the playoffs than Tomlin. So ill root for him untill I dont.

time will tell. if he can help develop a long term QB and successful offense in short order he will be a legend.

ok.... so i still don't like the hire, but... if i was mccarthy as soon as i got hired i would have been on the phone to rodgers.

please hear me out. if he brings rodgers back one more year to play and help mentor howard or a QB that they select in the upcoming draft it would truly benefit the team. so long as they don't trade up to get a QB in round 1 that is. i am not enthralled with any QB that will be taken after mendoza in the first round.

train what you have or get in round 3 or 4. use your early picks to build a stout team around rodgers and then whomever comes in the following year. they have no clue what they have in howard. so mentor him a bit more and see what he may have. hell, 2 years behind rodgers with a coach that is offensive minded could possibly turn him into something.

if they want to attempt to compete right now sign rodgers to another year and give him a WR corps that he can use and his successor can use when he is gone. because this is apparently what the ownership wants...to be competitive now. i hate the idea of bringing back on old QB but this is what i am expecting them to want to do.

i do not like the idea of rudolph being used as the starter no matter what. if they want to gamble they should gamble on the unknown which is howard rather than gambling on what they do is not the right guy.

they really need a QB, a WR or hopefully 2, S, G, possibly a T, a CB2, and a slot CB that can play. they have 12 picks to make something out of the draft for the future.

if mccarthy can hire a young OC to learn under him and a DC that understands that you can't continue running the same defense for 10 years and expect teams to not figure it out i will be ok with this hire. but as it sits right now, i'm not sold on it at all.

Honest bottom line for me is bringing back Rodgers feels like action, but it’s mostly delay. If the goal is to actually fix the franchise, not just stay respectable, the harder path is the right one: commit to evaluation, accept short-term pain, and stop renting answers at quarterback.

what i am kind of getting at is i can understand why they might want to bring back rodgers. i'd love if they evaluated howard. but i believe they bring rodgers back to help groom howard plus in doing so the FO can keep the "being competitive idea" alive.

I’ll slowly come around on McCarthy because in a vacuum I think he is a good coach. It’s just that there was a golden opportunity to really make changes and do a reset. I dont think a reset means you automatically win 3 only games.

Whats done is done, McCarthy is 62 so he’s not going to be coaching 19 years. This is a win now move by Rooney as McCarthy most likely will be one contract and done. Whether he can deliver on what Rooney is envisioning remains to be seen.

I think the offense will look much better with him and makes me feel even more that Howard can be a good QB. I dont see McCarthy at his age wanting to take a job that he doesnt think he has a QB to work with. He does have a good history with getting the most out of QB’s.

Rodgers who he put through his QB program while Farve was still the QB. I understand if people dont want to give him credit for that but many very talented QBs have not worked out in the league.

    He also developed Alex Smith
Had Matt Flynn playing at a high level that led to a starting job.
Made Cooper Rush look good and Dax played some of his best football under him.

So that’s something I look forward to seeing.

I hope they dont bring Rodgers back, 43 come on, just move on from that. A pass rush and the guy is dead in the water.

All and all still a meh hiring for me but hopefully it works.

If that's true, then we did the same thing to Flores that he's suing the league over.

Company line bull****. Love you Bill but you have to be soft like most bums on TV. I'd rather hear Terry Bradshaw's opinion. He tells the real answers when asked about football.

I already said the 2005 playoffs was a small sample size he was still a game manager early on in his career.

Ben was a huge part of the success in 2004 and 2005.Don't matter if you call game manager or not,he was amazing in the first 2 seasons, outside the moment he hit the rookie wall at the end of the 2004 season....The steelers were also not the same team when he was out for a few games in 2005

    I love this hire.
People wanted an offensive minded HC. Done.
People wanted a hire with a proven winning record. Done.
People wanted a HC that can bring in top coordinators. Done.

    Let's GO!!!!:steelflag:
