I think its a good hire as we need a real Offense , he seems to believe in Will so getting AR back could make Will the future Franchise QB...I am sure we will draft some talent for the Offense and draft some more DB'S ..

IMO this is the Difference in the 2 Mikes.. 1 run the ball play low scoring game invest in in the box players on Defense because of staying in close games...

Our new Mike wants to spread Teams out and try to score the ball , as a result the other Team will be passing more to catch up or keep up...Meaning more value on DB'S that can actually Cover ...

So my hope is the BPA approach is out , the focus on RB'S and LB'S is out and we get real pass catching weapons and put focus on pass defending Safeties and man coverage CB'S....

5 season in Dallas with Dak n the gang and three of em he got 12 wins outta em. That surprised me then and now. At the very least we'll take that offensive scoring. One more thing, I like big Mike with these diva WRs more than MT. Like a few have said, it comes down to having a solid DC. Labeau looks like he’s still able. Call em Big Mike and get this team back on track.

    You guys are great.

Did you watch Big Mike’s GB teams at all?

I did it was every single thing people complain about the Steelers with a better QB.

Slow starts, loses to “inferior teams”, abandoned run game, weird stuff on defense, intriguing game management, odd roster decisions, and insert your favorites here.

McCarthy is fine when the roster is constantly being infused with high end talent and everything goes well. As soon as the injuries mount or an opponent does something unexpected, McCarthy led teams fall apart. Like he gets fired fall apart.

I fail to understand? The Steelers have done nothing in years. What medicine should I expect?

Win or lose I'm happy for the change. Continue hearing of the collective, the components and the lack of blinking had me searching for new pills.

Not from me. The Steelers are just stuck in the past, getting left behind, look where the Pats are now, sucked for a few years, took their lumps, have a fnachise QB 1 game from another SB appearance.

Steelers? - Trying to run it back (again...) with a retread 62 year old HC and no QB.

While again I don't like the Hire, don't count your chickens before they are hatched with the Pats.
We seen Vrabel do this with the Titans, and get fired 4 years later, and we watch teams all the time make a AFC, or NFC championship, and not get even close to getting back example last year Washington. I'm not saying they won't do it, I'm say wait, and see.

But look where they are, that's the point. I'm not counting any chickens, I hope they lose. But the difference in where they are and where we are is very stark, win or lose today.

Steelers haven't been here for years and won't be for years either. We can't even win a ****ing playoff game dude.

The Titans finished 11-5 in 2020 and were the first seed in 2021(despite Henry missing half of the season that year), so I've seen worse one-hit wonders.

The Titans have also only won 6 games in two seasons since Vrabel was fired... 6-28.It was a very dumb decision of their part and I said that in this board at the moment of their decision(post 13 of this link below)

We have won many playoff games, or we would nit have been to 8 SBs, and have 6 SB wins. Some people, and I'm not saying you now live in a Microwave type of thing. Let's say they make it to the SB , and lose, but never make it back, and Vrabel is fired again for a bunch of losing seasons. Was it worth it???

    We shall see.
I do see You are leaving out the 7-10 , and 6 -11 years that seen him fired.
You people crown too fast, and down too fast.
You are the same person that talked about Washington turning it around last year. Where did they go???

We’re going to find out. The league was a lot different when McCarthy was developing Rodgers (hard to say he developed Dak much as he was already a known commodity by the time McCarthy got to Dallas). Are his methods still viable in today’s NFL?

We clearly chose the “mentor” approach over the “shceme” approach. We could have just installed a really good offensive scheme that made it easier for decent QB’s to look good and make plays. Instead we chose a more dated approach to picking a person that is going to make it their mission to improve the QB to work in any system. It doesn’t mean it won’t work… but it’s definitely risky. It may have a higher ceiling the way we chose to do it, but the floor is way lower. If McCarthy fails to develop a QB we are going to be in a rough spot, being the Cardinals or Raiders in a couple seasons with a bad roster, no QB, and little hope for the franchise.

The titans are a complete dumpster fire since the trade of A.J Brown(vrabel was against this trade at the start) for a first round pick who become a bust...They are so bad, they are 3-14 in back to back season since Vrabel has been fired.7-10 and 6-11 is not good but their roster was complete garbage at the end

It could be the same for the pats if their front office become awful but if this is not the case and Mayes is not a one hit wonder,Vrabel will be fine

Ok that's great, and yet it changes nothing of what happened. It's really hard for You to just wait, and see. You said all this stuff about Washington last year. Where are they now??
Just watch, and wait, and see, is it that hard???

Nobody knows the future, but one thing is for sure: the Pats are playing today.

How many times have the Steelers played this game in the last 15 seasons?

I remember the Steelers were constantly in this game, no longer the case, even in the divisional round.

That's because You are young. Because I remember when they weren't. You are like My two ex ole ladies, I got them into Steelers football one in 2004, and the other in 2006. They only know the Steelers as winners. I on the other hand have seen bad seasons, and great ones.

No, that's not how this wishing thing works.
It's -20 outside right now and snowing hard. I'm wishing for summer right now, but that doesn't mean I want my house to burn down.
Just because we want something bad to stop happening (Tomlin) doesn't mean we want something potentially worse instead (McCarthy).

There's no one on here asking for success in the regular season. We've had plenty of that. What people want is playoff success, which McCarty hasn't been good at throughout his career.
His teams underperform in the playoffs, and that's with HOF QB's in GB, the best RB in the league, the best OL in the league and a very good QB in Dallas.
Give me Zeke, Dak and the best OL in the league and I can probably get to 8 or 9 wins as a coach.

It kinda is. There's multiple sayings about it. Many parables. One with a monkey's paw - how exciting!
