Rooney is Jerry Jones north. I am so apathetic at this point.

Disappointed by this move, especially with a reported 5 year deal. Does not seem to be a step forward for the franchise. I presume Kahn and Weidl were on board with this decision so the upcoming draft will be very intriguing, as will Free Agency. I'll wait to see who the coordinators are and how the rest of the staff goes, but I would have preferred a Shula led team with the coordinators coming from the Rams and a concerted effort to get more youthful, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
I seem to recall Rodgers and McCarthy having a falling out in Green Bay, so it will be interesting to see if they reconcile and ARod returns to the Steelers.

    W T A F?!?!

    Fire Rooney. Into the sun.

All you did was replace mediocrity for slightly worse mediocrity

Hey, I got an idea. We haven't won a playoff game in a decade. Let's hire a coach that was fired from a franchise that's in even a longer drought

No he wasn't. Tennessee were idiots letting him go. Half the country said this after he was fired.

Tom Coughlan was a retread, until he won 2 Superbowls.

That is my thinking now. Mike was the only one telling a 73 year old Art Rooney we can win now.

All these other younger coaches kept wanting to talk about a 5 year plan.

i absolutely hate this move. to me it is the steelers organization flinching. rather than wait to see about a young up and coming HC candidate they panicked and hired what they think they know. i am so against this move i can't even put it into words.

i am now expecting much the same as we dealt with when tomlin was the coach. try to patch together a team because we can compete now. we don't have to rebuild nor do we want to rebuild and plan for the future more than this upcoming year.

i expect a veteran retread QB just like tomlin has done again this year.

correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't ben play for cowher for 2 years before tomlin? i think ben was developing before tomlin arrived. ben had a playing style and i think tomlin inherited that style.

Mike Tomlin didn't develop dick. 19 years and not a single coaching disciple. Sean McVey has coached 10 less years and he has 4 already and will likely have 5 before the end of the month finishes.

Ben was a game manager his first few seasons, remember the offense with the killer B's. Ben is the only QB to throw for over 500 yards three times and throw 6 TDs in back-to-back games the HC was Tomlin .

i think he was a little bit more than just a game manager during the '05 playoffs. i know he had horrible stats in the superbowl in '05 but in the playoffs.... he wasn't just managing. and to be a little honest, was it tomlin that developed him or could it have been arians and haley that brought him along?
