I hope they boo the hell out of Deuce at the draft. Pray he steps down soon and Dan is capable.

At least the Ravens feared Tomlin.

At least he’s old and obese. He won’t last long.

And I laugh my ass off at the fact the Steelers have owned 2 time MVP Lamar and the Ravens with scrub QBs .

If Seattle made the Super Bowl, the Steelers had to wait until after the game to interview Kubiak.

I haven't read through the whole thread, so apologies if this has already been beat to death, but....

Aaron Rodgers will be back next year, 100%. For Art to make a move like this, it tells me he wants to run it back next year with ARod. No way ARod was coming back to play with a first year coach. Signing McCarthy means another year, maybe even two with Rodgers.

We can still possibly bring in Scheelhaase as an OC. There's no guarantee that he'll get a HC job, but OC would still be a promotion. Maybe he'd like to work with MM and vice versa. And perhaps they could learn from each other. Even if Scheelhaase leaves in a couple years we would get some picks for him.

Well, they just swept the Ravens with a 42-year-old Rodgers.

I'm going to try to say something positive here... It is believed that McCarthy's main selling point in his interviews is that he's touted himself as an elite developer of young QB's. I get that he didn't draft Dak or Rodgers, but he did help develop them. Rodgers spent the beginning of his career learning and developing under McCarthy and Dak had some of his best seasons as a starter under McCarthy. He even helped make Aaron Brooks look like an NFL capable starter. So, if McCarthy can help Howard (or a draft pick) develop into a quality player, then maybe this is all worth it.

I will say though, you don't hire someone like McCarthy to oversee a rebuild... so there is going to be a lot of pressure from the fanbase to put up or shut up. Hire good coordinators and develop the QB or bust. If he turns in 2-3 poor seasons, I would expect the fanbase will be pretty done with him. He won't have a long leash from the fans.

I love Rodgers, and he's been incredible, but he's going to be 43. Planning your franchise around that is insane.

Or the better option of... they liked Scheelhaase a ton and want him to be the OC, but felt that HC was too big of a leap for him. We can have MM develop him as a coach into his own eventual replacement... Idk. One can dream, since he was my personal favorite for the HC job.

Maybe Jonnu has some eligibility left and can be a star in Smith's offense! :lolol:

I posted earlier I don't get why they didn't wait and interview more candidates; McCarthy should've been their backup plan not their first option .

I thought of that but doubt Mike would want to train his replacement unless he's told Rooney that he only plans on coaching for 2-3 more years. IDK.

No doubt. All I can say is, with some new weapons on O, and some secondary help, this team will be competitive next year. The window is open a crack, but it sure won't be open for long.

Exactly. If the Rams and Seahawks guys just weren't quite right, MM is your fallback option.

It might have a chance to work if he hired some good coordinators.

Aaron Rodgers was instrumental in getting McCarthy out in GB. I suspect Rodgers isn’t a fan.
