While true, all three of those teams have a QB, plus Vrabel is also a retread, which is probably a big reason NE turned it around from last year.

The tired fan that I am, I agree with you. For the first time in a long time, I had zero expectations going into next season. Even if they were to go 0-17, it wouldn't have shocked me with a new first-time young guy. Now, I am not sure what to think.

Trying to be positive here. Maybe McCarthy is better than most of the fans think. Someone mentioned his time in Dallas above. It's not a secret that Jerry Jones is IMO arguably the worst meddling owner there is. I mean, even Parcells didn't get past the divisional round (or was it the WC round?) of the playoffs there.

Welp, no matter. Congratulations, Mike, on getting the job. I wish you well, and I hope your 3rd stint turns out to be like Any Reid in KC.

You are not qualified to be an owner they have to be able to speak and write some semblance of proper English

 

I am okay with it, just not over enthused.

I will say this, for every young DC/OC/assistant hired as a head coach that succeeds, you have three that end up failing. It's hardly a sure thing to hire a Shula or Scheelhasse or whomever and they be successful as an HC. That was always weighing on my mind. I still would have taken a shot, but there was high risk with that route. This feels like high floor, low risk (a step up from Tomlin, but clearly the ceiling isn't overly high either).

That said, I probably would have preferred Stefanski or McDermott to McCarthy, at least as far as hiring a retread.

Oh well, at least its not Tomlin clone Harbaugh.

Of course, the owner's an idiot. He was terrified of moving on from Tomlin and now he hires the worst candidate. Hardly surprising and why I was so concerned they were even entertaining this. McCarthy was the only candidate worse than Flores.

Oh man, I am still steamed about that. How Rooney wouldn't consider a trade. What a meathead. It would have been win/win for Steelers. Tomlin gone, hopefully a good coach hired AND draft pick(s)? Can you imagine turning that down. Maybe 8 or 10 years ago, but the past four years, Rooney should have wet himself running to sign off on that deal. Meathead.
