    I suspect not.

Assuming Ramsey is a safety now.

That number would make Ramsey the 4th highest paid safety in the league. I just don't think that Ramsey is the fourth most productive safety in the league...

Who knows....maybe the new staff comes in and sees him as a big contributor...the Steelers have the cap room for the contract.

To be fair Heyward still played well last season. The problem is any day he’s falling off a cliff so how much money are you willing to pay him on a 1 year deal. The other 3 can go fly a kite with a hole in it.

I tend to agree. The is $0.0 dead moeny on Ramsey. We save it all but cutting him.

    I recommend this site highly.

Now, I am for bringing him back at say $10 million dollars this year and 5 million next year. A 2 year 15 miillon dollar deal.

    ramsey. no. 19.5 mil.

    queen. no or maybe. 13.330

    jonnu smith no. 7 mil.

    malik harrison. no. 4.750 mil.

    calvin anderson. no. 2 mil.

    cory trice. no. 1.450 mil.

we have 37. 604 in cap space as of now. we could add almost 48 mil. to that. bringing us to around 86 mil.

i'd sign dugger, pierre, samuel and extend porter and cook and echols.

Holy smokes! I didn’t realize that Ramsey had no dead money. That’s awesome.

A reduced desk like you outlined would looks reasonable.

No, he started out well and really stunk by the end. I know he changed positions but still. This team needs to shed several expensive vets and load up at WR and the entire Defense in the draft.

I can’t see him being back on that deal. They will draft a safety in round 2/3 and probably sign a cheaper vet free agent

Two questions lead me to no

    1) Ramsey is a safety to replace Elliott. Elliott is back next year with a cap hit just over $6M. Is Ramsey at safety worth $13M more than Elliott (assuming he is healthy)?

    2) Are the Steelers contending next year and does Ramsey put them over the top?

No to both questions means no to Ramsey. I try to trade him as he might be somewhat attractive to a contender looking for a vet CB at a reasonable $19M hit. If not I have no problem letting him go.

I'd rather take some of that money to go after Pierre, Samuel, or someone else.

Something to think about when looking at some of these numbers. Take a guy like Trice. When you let him go, you save $1.145M but he gets replaced on the cap by someone else who currently doesn't count (called the offset). Right now, the lowest number is $885K so the difference is less than $300K, but by the time the draftees are signed the offset should be over $1M. Not saying we should keep him or even Calvin Anderson, but you don't cut those guys for cap reasons, those cuts would only be made for football reasons.

Ramsey replaced Thornhill, not Elliott. Dugger was the replacement for Elliott.

Harrison is relatively cheap for what he does. Trice's salary is too low to be relevant. I can't see them getting rid of both Queen and Harrison.
