No HC in the history of the NFL that I can remember has been raked over the coals for poor time outs, and clock management than Andy Reid, even in KC, and yet look at all the SBs.

I still don't buy the Steelers are the most secure job. We have yet to see a HC come in , and suck, and until we actually see that, and I pray we don't, but until we actually see that happen we don't know how the Steelers will react.

I actually believe it's because now they will get a compensation for him now if someone hires him. I could be wrong, and I'm the wrong person to talk about this side of football, but It's what I heard on the radio.

I hit agree, and I don't know if this is 100% true, but what You say makes perfect sense to me.

Tomlin had his issues with clock management and timeouts. The Steelers as a whole had some challenge challenges...but that just isn't the core of what was wrong with the team. There was plenty to discuss about what could have been better....but timeouts are far from the biggest issue.

This is why I have no interest in Flores. Really seems like there are personality/character issues with him if you read the tea leaves of his career.

He seems to be a pretty good DC, but I want someone with the personality of a leader. We have plenty of other options.

We saw how Matt Canada sucked and we kept continuing to roll with him. We basically needed an act of god to fire a coordinator. We didn't fire Butler, or Fichtner, or Austin despite consistent poor performance. I would assume if we are so dead set on hanging onto coordinators until their contract runs out, we are double-y so with the HC.

I can agree with this with guys that have been HC's before. I give someone with no HC experience another year or two, especially if they are overhauling the roster/system to something completely different that what it was before. Someone like Flores or McCarthy should come in, make good hires, and get the ship rolling rather quickly. If we hire either of them and they go back to back no playoffs or back to back losing seasons, I would be in 100% support of firing them, especially if year two was significantly worse than year 1. For a new HC, you have to look for more subtle improvements, particularly in the way of getting buy in. If the team buys in and we just don't have the roster, or the system is taking longer to get right because we don't have optimal personnel... then you just keep rolling with it for another two years to see if it can be built. This team can turn around in 2-3 years without hitting rock bottom. It's happened elsewhere. No reason to think that it can't happen here.

We have yet in my memory ever seen a HC come in , and fail, and until we do , I'm not so sure about the Steelers, and job security.
Cowher came in, and instantly won, and went to the playoffs. Tomlin came in, and instantly won, and went to the playoffs. We have yet to see a HC come in, and lose more games than the year before, and miss the playoffs. Not once, so until we do, and I again, I hope we don't, I'm not sure how they will handle it.
Also I'm not counting Noll because ....
    1. None of the people running the show then are still alive, and.....
    2. Because I'm going by what I've actually seen, and by the time I really understood what I was watching, Noll had the team completely turned around, and winning.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, who got to play under Floral from the start of his time as a HC, said, [Flores] “became unrecognizable and a dictator and burnt bridges during his time there [Miami].”

So, there you have it. Not only did team owners with an axe to grind conspire against Floral, so did NFL QBs.

Just imagine the magnitude of how bad we suck if we end up hiring this loser?

Not winning a playoff game for a decade isn’t sucking? What’s sucking? Being the Cleveland Clowns?

We don't have to have a HC come in and fail early to know how the Steelers would handle it. They can see the iron-clad loyalty to their contracts with coordinators and make the correlation that if that is the case for coordinators it is the same for the HC. There's no reason to believe that Rooney and Ownership REALLY want to hang onto the coordinators that suck, but will fire a HC willy nilly after a bad year or two to start their tenure.

This argument is like saying we don't know if we will get electricuted if we stick a fork in an outlet because we've never seen anyone stick a fork in an outlet. We've seen them stick a knife in the outlet and get electricuted, and the fork is made out of the same material as the knife.... but I'm just not so sure. I hope we never see someone stick a fork in an outlet, but until we do, we can't be sure what will happen....
