McCarthy could be the offensive coordinator if the Steelers want Rodgers to play another year. Something to think about. It would make Chris Shula’s transition much smoother, he can really focus on the fundamentals and fixing a broken defense that can’t cover an ant hole on 3rd down.

I don’t give a **** about Flores and Miami and his issues or whatever. He doesn’t have the temperament to be the Steelers head coach. He’s great at defense but not head coach. Steelers don’t fire coaches and you can not risk the next 15 years on a guy that can’t do the job as a head coach in Pittsburgh.

Sounds like he wanted to make sure he had a DC job if he doesn't get a HC offer. I'm sure he probably feels like it's a low percentage to land a HC gig, so sign back on and keep what you have. Not a bad move at all on his part.

Well, yeah. They also couldn't bring in half their "wish list" in person due to them being in the playoffs though. The Vikings and Dolphins didn't make it so Flores and Weaver got to go first. They can now have one with Klay Kubiak if they wanted to since the niners lost. They still have to wait until after the championship game weekend to have theirs with Shula and Scheelhaase if they want to. They can't even request Denver or Seattle coordinators until they are eliminated apparently, so we don't even know if there's any interest in candidates from those two teams. Can't even have virtual ones...

 

If Flores doesn’t get HC position, will he sue the Steelers for being wronged?
