Tomlin wasn't fired or forced out, Rooney was fully expecting to run it back again with him. Tomlin quit plain and simple.

Justin Herbert just has to agree to throw to Jonnu Smith 7 times a game.

my honest wish for a HC... anyone who believes in discipline and accountability. i want them to hire a coach. not a friend. as tomlin got older he became more of a friend to the players rather than a coach. there was no accountability when you did stupid things.

it's like having a parent who wants to be their kid's best friend. it's great to get along with your kids but if you don't discipline them when they are wrong there is no accountability and they never really learn there are things you can do and things you just don't do.

too many of these players haven't had a parent or a coach that put things into a perspective where when you f-up you have to pay the tolls.

i'd like a young, up and coming offensive minded coach. one that comes from an established coaching tree because it is more likely he has connections to other coaches and coordinators that can work as a team. i'd also take a defensive minded young, up and coming coach that understands that you need a good offense to be competitive and might also have connections from an existing coaching tree.

i would not be offended with someone like flores. i think he fits a mold of a coach that won't deal with bs from players doing bone-headed things. but i am not sure he would have the ability to hire an up and coming, talented OC due to his previous hires in miami.

It's more exciting that way since no one ever knows what route Jonnu might be running.

The Steelers interviewed Chan Gailey before they hired Tomlin. It was a courtesy to Cowher. I’m not worried about McCarthy.

McCarthy and Flores will not require virtual interviews, as the team is already familiar with both candidates and will be meeting with them in person this week. So there is no second interview scheduled for Flores at this time.

Come on man you gotta be smarter than this. The new coach will be conducting interviews for coordinators. They are not interviewing coordinators before they hire a coach.
You come up with some really silly stuff.

Yes, just lke I believe that when a young Mike Tomlin became head coach of the Steelers, he was Told that Dick Lebeau was going to be his Defensive Coordinator.

Do you believe that young Mike Tomlin had any choice but to accept Dick Lebeau as his DC?

That may actually be true, but DL was an established well liked coach here. McCarthy was not here interviewing for an OC job even if he eventually gets it. Don’t be so goofy.

Don’t you think it will be odd for the Steelers to hire a 61yr old HC?
Why they are interviewing him is a different story
We have had 3 HC s since 1969
I believe it is safe to say McCarthy is over the age limit?

No freakin' chance McCarthy gets the gig. It goes against everything the Steelers are looking for when hiring a new coach. Youth and defense.

judging from the past...or what little of it that the steelers have in selecting a new coach, i think they will hire a younger coach more than likely a coordinator rather then pay for a former head coach's experience. no matter who is doing the hiring at HC. that is just what they have done in the past. i expect it to continue.
