The 1992 roster was much younger that right now

We have a lot of young guys, and a whole $hit ton of picks. Don't let 5 old guys make a 53 man roster be old.

We have 5 good picks in the first 3

Anything after that is mostly fodder

That's 5 good picks, and no reason to believe the latter will be bad.

    Historical odds are not favorable.

So they’re just going to scrap their business model after 56 years? Come on man.

The only way I see the next coach getting fired quickly is if he turns out to be bad with people and the other coaches and management can’t work with him. Which wouldn’t be the case because that’s like the number one thing Rooneys look for in a HC, being a leader.

You say that, and yet I can't help but think of all the players I have seen be great from the late rounds.

This isn’t about Tomlin. It’s about the new HC walking into an equal or better situation than Cowher did. I was thinking this roster was on par to that one but it’s not. Really not even close. I didn’t remember that roster being that good when Bill took over.

    Again... Who's business model??
The business model guys you are referring to are all dead.
    Again...
    1. Every HC after Noll won more games his 1st year than the last record of the HC before them.
    2. This Rooney wasn't in charge either time.
What I'm trying to get through you head is I have never see what he will do with a new HC. Unless you have seen into the future. Neither have you. Why is this so hard to understand??

No. I can think of a lot.
Do You know there are more 4th round draft picks in the HOF than 3rd round??

No it's not about Tomlin. It's about Rooney, and the New guys. At least You got something correct. LoL

It’s a family business model, why is that hard for you to get through your head. Stability, continuity, that stuff ring a bell to you.

Art just resided over an 8 year playoff drought and counting had no intention of firing Tomlin.

But sure, Art is going to start acting like the Browns :goofy:

The next time you get something correct will be the first time.

You took a simple statement that the 91 roster was better than this current roster and took it down one of your whacky rabbit holes.

LoL. Yeah like You actually know. None of the family members that installed that business model is alive, and we have never seen a family member mess up a business model after the people that made it passed away. Not ever. LoL .
The difference between You , and me is you seem to have seen into the future, I on the other hand have enough understanding to know I don't know for freaking sure. I do know this, He is not his grandfather, or his father.

There are definitely more 4th round players than 3rd round. Which I find fascinating really.

Tanking intentionally would create a loser culture and advocating for tanking is the single dumbest thing I’ve ever heard fans wish for. Utterly, completely nonsensical.

The Pats faced the Raiders (3-14), Titans (3-14), Browns (5-12), 4 games against the NFC South (no teams with a winning record), 2 games each against the Jets (3-14) and Dolphins (7-10), the Bengals (6-11) without Burrow, and the Giants (4-13). That is 7 out of 17 games against the division losers and league worst teams, and another 6 vs below-average teams (NFCS, CIN, and Miami). Especially THIS year that is a cupcake schedule. (The 4 good teams they faced were the Bills twice, Ravens, and Steelers.)

They had back-to-back years picking in the top 5.
A slight overstatement (they had more than one abysmal season but not "many"), but I've been spoiled by the Steelers.
(No picks in the top 10 in the past 25 years (other than 2019 when they had to trade to move up to the 10th pick), and the last pick in the top 5 was Bradshaw in 1970.)

By your logic, the Pats turned it around in 2021 when they went from 7-9 to 10-7 (playoffs).
Or the Browns turned it around in 2020 when they went from 6-10 to 11-5 (playoffs). (I remember one poster claiming the Browns were going to dominate the Steelers for the next decade.) Or in 2023 when they went from 7-10 to 11-6 (playoff).

Things have probably changed in NE, but only one year is too limited to decide if they have turned it around. Too many cases of a team yo-yo-ing up and down instead of having sustained good play.

A win against the Chargers, while better than not-winning, isn't compelling.
The Chargers have a history of trouble playing on the east coast and/or in cold weather. They've only had 1 playoff win (2018 vs the Ravens) in the past 12 years.
(If NE also dominates the Texans, that will be a better argument.)

Yeah, I would like to see a HC go tell a bunch of veterans during the season we're going to tank for better draft pick .

I understand the league giving better picks to the bad teams to give them a chance to turn around their fortunes, but I think they should also give some more inducement for players to try to win during the regular season (instead of tanking for the team's drafting position).
Players get a bonus for every playoff game.
Maybe something like $2-5K per active player on the winning team (that doesn't count against the cap). It would be chicken feed for the top players, but the low-mid tier players would still have motivation to win even when their team is out of the playoffs.

The players can make over six figures for winning in the playoffs.
