a smashmouth kinda coach.....Ravens have already interviewed him for their HC spot. Dude has 4 Super Bowl rings with cold weather New England as a coach. Already coached in cold weather Pittsburgh. And currently coached in cold weather Minnesota and took their 28th ranked defense to 7th in three years. Funny that he only failed in a sunny Miami. But yet Pittsburgh fans want to hire a coach from sunny California to be our next head coach that has no clue how smashmouth the AFC North is and especially in winter. Yeah, lets get Chris Shula or Scheelhaase...to bring their finesse to the AFC North.....embarrassing to say the least.....especially if the Ravens end up hiring Flores.

Chris Shula's defense just gave up 31 points to Bryce Young and the Panthers in the wild card game but we want him as our head coach going up against Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow in the winter months?......LMAO. Give me a freakin break! Bring in Flores...ASAP!

So here we go.....Brian Flores stats as defensive coordinator in the last 5 games....Vikings gave up 52 points. Rams under Shula as defensive coordinator in the last 5 games gave up 156. Are you freaking kidding me, Steeler fans?....you want this sunny California guy that just gave up 156 points in 5 games as defensive coordinator over Flores who only gave up 52 points in his last 5 games and is a cold weather coach? Unbelievable!!!!

I like what Flores did in Pitt and Minn.

But there's heavy baggage. His racial discrimination lawsuit against the NFL is still going on and is likely to go to the Supreme Court. That's a major distraction. Also his contract is up and has not been renewed by Minn. Hmm..why not?

I'd rather take a chance on a guy like Flores that has an edge than Shula that seems soft.

Man, we as Steelers are gonna get plucked if we hire Shula and the Ravens hire Flores. I hope the Steeler brass goes with a proven coach and selects Flores.

So lets take a look at a team that both the Vikings and Rams played in the last 5 games...its the only team that they both played in the last 5 games and that is the Detroit Lions. Brian Flores defense gave up 10 points to them...Shula's defense gave up 34. SMH....

at least Shula made the playoffs and has a win last year and so far this year a win. when was the last time flores won a playoff game? when was the last time he had his team lead in the division?

and by your dumb response, you clearly are not aware that Shula and Flores faced off last year in the wild card. guess who won?
oh and they also played each other this year. guess who won? your boy Flores let up a touchdown in every quarter.

Flores SB rings came with who at QB? oh yeah, Tom Brady. and how did the patriots look after Tom Brady?

..... now with that said, I like Flores better for our defense. it is aggresive, hybrid, heavy blitz, Amoeba fronts, that are disguised. While Shula is young, fangigo style defense, however he starts out playing conservative.

Um, we had him as linebacker coach and did not promote him to DC.

Tomlin kept Austin. Flores is a good coach. Way better than Austin.

Flores is not going to be a Steeler HC.

    Bank on it.

    Shula > Cry baby Flora
It’s not an edge that he has. It’s a sense of entitlement.

    Shula > Cry baby Flores

I’m not certain but I get the feeling the OP likes Flores and not a fan of Shula.

Just the vibe I am getting.

They had just hired Austin though, they were never going to fire him with a full contract yet to be paid.

Even from an optics standpoint they wouldnt do that but especially for financial reasons.

Prefer neither. MT only had 1 season as a DC and that apparently was good enough, so who knows.

He was with the Steelers for a year so there is familiarity with Khan.
Second, there is an overlap historically between NE 3-4 and Steelers LeBeau 3-4 defense.
Third, he would bring some innovation with that hybrid linebacker like Van Ginkel and Van Noy play, including some secondary coverage concepts from the Patriots.
Fourth, that defense is proven to work to win championships.
Fifth, he now has familiarity with McVay's offensive tree via Minnesota and could be likely to reach for someone like Scheelhaase to take the Steelers' offense in a new direction.
Ravens maybe looking for that same thing.

That bs is why I want nothing to do with Flores. Will he pull the same crap if he fails in Pittsburgh & gets fired?! I lost whatever respect I had for him & idc how qualified he is.

He’d be a cancer & a nonstop headache, IMO. The threat of that risk is too great for me to take the chance on the reward. And, the spineless ownership here would be terrified to let him go if things don’t go well & we’d be held hostage, again. I don’t want him on staff in ANY capacity.

Maybe they will surprise me. I just don't think the Steelers will hire from the list of top candidates. They have found their own guy historically.

People who are worried about the lawsuit do not understand the nature of the lawsuit. Not every lawsuit is bad. This lawsuit simply highlights the problems in the interview and hiring practices related to the Rooney Rule. A federal judge would probably tell them to go work it out since both sides want the same thing, and come back to report the status in a year. Without the court's involvement the NFL would not explore it with urgency.

Not really concerned with the lawsuit, that would be something for the Rooney's to deal with their buddies across the NFL.

As HC, more concerned with how he deals with players and coaches in this day and age, some have said he alienated players and staff with his style. I know some in the media report that Flores says he learned alot in his first HC job.

If the Rams win and move on, this may happen sooner rather than later.

First off.. we don’t tank for picks like some other organizations do. Imagine finally getting a HC gig and the FO wants you to lose gracefully to get a high pick?

Second.. Tua implied Flores didn’t have faith in him. Turns put Flores was correct.

Third.. Miami broke the rules trying to get Brady and Flores wasn’t a fan of that meeting and felt he was tricked into meeting Brady on that boat.

Fourth.. Flores went from 5-11 to 10-6 his second year. Third year they went 9-8 and was fired. What type of franchise fires a HC with that type of record after 3 years?

Fifth.. the chances of us firing Flores early in his career is slim to none.
