The new coach is going to find it tough to get a decent QB his first year here. The top free agent is Daniel Jones and after him there is guys like Marcus Mariotta. Not really inspiring but probably better than what we have in house with Rudolph and Howard. He could look in the draft but Mendoza will be gone with the first pick and then a big dropoff after that. Maybe the new coach could get lucky and have a Ty Simpson or Trinidad Chambliss work out but that is pretty iffy. There just isn't any really good choices for the new coach.

Need depth as we found out this year. Samuel would be a cheap depth piece who can step in if needed

I would rather re-sign Pierre, and they have a CB on IR in Donte Kent.

Just roll with Howard or make a move for Willis, Danny Dimes or Mac Jones and then target 2027 for drafting a QB. They’ll have an added high draft pick from Tomlin.

No one should be expecting a SB next season.

aside from Terry and Ben, our track record in finding Qb’s, in the draft or even FA, has been pretty bad. But a good HC and OC can change that.

Won't Daniel Jones miss much of the 2026 season?

Supposedly he will be ready for the start of training camp. He wouldn’t be my first choice though.

After picking Bradshaw No. 1 overall they didn't draft a first round QB until Mark Malone 10 years later. And even he was at the end of Rd1. The next highest was Stewart in Rd2 and that was 15 years after Malone. Tough to find a franchise guy if it's not a top 10 or so pick. Odds are just against it.

Reaching for a lousy QB in the draft doesn’t work either. And it prevents you from adding talent at another position.

Glad to see it’s not us. The Steelers reminded him that he’s Daniel Jones, and he played mostly losing football after that until his injury.

We need to look into that other Indy QB…. as a replacement for Jonnu Smith.

I agree---Howard, Mason, & Skylar Thompson should be good enough for the start of a re-build. Howard has potential, Mason has shown what he can do (when he has decent WRs---which absolutely has to be a priority) and Thompson was impressive in the preseason. Good enough to keep. I think our RBs (minus Kaleb Johnson--not sure what his deal is) and TEs are good enough (minus Jonnu, of course). Getting decent WRs and a real offensive plan will be the key to seeing who the best QB will be---it's hard to tell when the whole system was a mess (and there was no one to throw to). Defense is way overpaid, but again we were out-coached. Get someone good (I wish Shwartz would come here) and see how it shakes out after cutting loose some older and overpaid types. Deshon Elliot coming back will be huge, but need another safety. I think it should only take a couple years to get back into real contention. Our division is not that great right now, so it won't take too much to keep up with them. But winning playoff games might take a litle longer.

The steelers drafted only 4 QB in the first round since 1970...They were right twice

This is possible that Tomlin don't want to coach again like Cowher before him

I would be absolutely shocked. According to everyone that covers him, hes still as passionate as ever about football and coaching.

I don't think I'm sold on Willis and he'll want a couple bucks. I'd rather roll with Howard and see what they have.

I do like Gainwell, but also hope that the new scheme doesn't see him as the leading pass catcher for the team.

Excited about the unknown. It's been a long time!

The BPA approach sucks IMO..We need a clear plan.Multiple stabs at what you need, DBS,WRS and QBS but get the WR room fixed before you get the QB...

DB's and WR's don't win Superbowls. Get the lines fixed first and then build out from there. The formula is simple and history proves it. If you can get to the other teams QB and protect your own, your chances of winning go way up.

And I do realize we need a real QB. But if we can't keep him upright and healthy, we'll just have a Joe Burrow situation.

Im not saying reach in the first or second round for a guy that doesn’t belong like KP. However we can try and draft 3rd 4th 5th rd QBs where it makes sense and go with youth and upside.

Tom Brady and his weapons made his OL look great .. If you have enough talent the Defense really cant blitz. Of course I want a stud om his blind side , but you need the weapons 1st.

You don't think Mel Blount helped the Steelers win Super Bowls? Troy Polamalu? John Stallworth, Lynn Swann, or Hines Ward? Seriously?

What makes you think they can count on a seventh-round pick who missed the entire season?
